I used Keyboard to transport my 1100S from Chesapeake, VA to Fritch, TX. last September (in fact it arrived 1 year ago today).

It's worth looking into a one way plane ticket. Flying there and riding it home may be cheaper than shipping.
I calculated the expenses of a fly in-ride out deal. Due to the great distance, shipping was about half the cost of the ride it home option and that did not include use of vacation time. I highly recommend Keyboard Carriage;I was very pleased with the rates and service.

This morning while I was at my local dealer a big hauler pulled up with the name Haul Bikes on the side the enclosed trailer. The driver was there to pick up a Ducati so I went out to check out his rig.

This outfit only transports motorcycles in the lower 48 states. The fully enclosed trailer has 2 levels with 3 full length tie down rails to load motorcycles. This is one professional looking operation.

Here is the information in case anyone is interested. If I was in need to ship a motorcycle I would feel very comfortable using this outfit if the cost was in line.

The OP didn't say where he needed to go and from experience that will have a bearing.

FWIW, Keyboard pioneered the two-level big-rig concept and a central warehouse. Haul Bikes may be dandy too.

It should be noted that Keyboard loads the bike on their specialized platform on the ground. That's the last place the bike is touched until it is unloaded, also on the ground. It's those pallets which move on rails in the enclosed trailer, nothing which touches your machine.

Keyboard doesn't do the Pacific NW though. They do SoCal IIRC. East Coast and the Heartland are pretty fully covered. They don't use brokers for areas not covered by them. Others will though, so beware.

From VA to CA, FWIW, ~ 20 $$$ collectible bikes sold by my son made it without a scratch. Important for his reputation! :nerd:

We need the rest of our "smileys" BTW. :frown2:

+1 for Keyboard Carriage. They just shipped a Ducati to me (So. California) from Richmond, VA. It arrived without a scratch and the operation was very professional all the way. I wouldn't use anyone else if they were an option.
