Please allow me to vent a little about shipping tracking. You know, the idea that you can follow your package online as it speeds from it's point of origin to your house sounds great in theory. In practice, however, what I've found is that the tracking is days overdue. I have a package on its way to me now via FedEx, and the last record I can find of it is from the 29th. Apparently it reached Phoenix--so what?! Surely it's moved on from Phoenix by now.

Most often shipping tracking only gives me the information I really want to see--that the item is actually in my hometown--AFTER it's been dropped off at my house.

Piss me off...grumble grumble grumble.

UPS delivered some pipes to my house today, one day sooner than the tracking said it would. :-D I`ve ordered a ton of stuff this year and I usually check the estimated due date the second day and forget about it . I like using the regular shippers because of the ease of drop-off,but if I really want something fast and cheap, you just can`t beat USPS priority.3 days every time, even if some of those days are Sat./Sun.. Heck, even the UK version is fast. The Dymags arrived in 5 days, albeit, with a $375 postage stamp in the corner of the box. :-D

Yeah, I typically don't pay much attention to shipping tracking either. But whenever I get a bee under my bonnet for something on it's way, the shipping tracking is a disappointment. I continually wonder why it's offered if, in reality, it doesn't give accurate information about one's item's location?

Anyway, I'm just complaining. :???:

It's usually spot on here in northern NM. I love it.

Instant gratification? Yes please.

Did someone mention FedEx ???

(((OK.... I apologize to anyone on this forum who works for FedEx. I'm sure there are many good people working there - I just haven't had any luck reaching them))))

Its a good thing FedEx has "tracking" because in my area seeing "delivered" on the web means its time to send out the search party. I'm happy if I find the package at a house on my road or in some cases thrown by the side of the road 1/2 mile away(sometimes they have even been nice enough to put it into a plastic bag before they heave it out of the truck). Multiple times they've dropped packages at seemingly random homes miles away (it's a good thing I live in a rural area where everybody knows everybody).

It works the other way around too - one time we had a package dropped at our house addressed to a person in another town some 15 miles away - I'm not sure how you confuse "West Shokan" with "Glenford" but I am sure that their package status showed up as "delivered" after it was dropped at our door. .

Oh - and did I mention that their customer service is %&&*#...er..poor. I've filed complaints with them on multiple occasions but they just don't seem to care - or even bother to return phone calls when they goof (Mistakes don't bother me but not stepping up to resolve the problems really irks me).

IIRC it took three calls and over a week to get them to come back and pick up the package that was supposed to go to the person in Glenford - in another case it was 10+ calls over the course of three weeks. They kept saying they were going to "check with the driver" but never did. In this case we finally got a call from a bewildered weekender who was checking on his summer home (in the middle of winter) and discovered the soggy package on the back porch. You might think that the snow covered driveway, walks, steps, etc... would have been a clue to the driver that the house wasn't occupied and he/she wasn't in the right place... but apparently not.

In contrast, DHL and UPS always seem to be able to find my house. I think it boils down to FedEx using contract drivers in our area - you never see the same driver twice and it seems they are paid based on packages delivered so as long as they don't have the box on the truck when they return - they're happy (I think this is a "FedEx Home" phenomena).

I probably don't need to say this but when I order anything I will choose any shipping option available that does not involve FedEX.

On the plus side, the last 2 FedEx deliveries did, in fact, make it to my house and were on time so maybe some changes have been made...

Steve
