I read an article in Skiing magazine about the climate change due to Global warming. It had a quote from some scientist that in the year 2023 the eastern US ski resorts will have approximately 1.2 inches less of snow. I know we are messing it up for the generations after us, but If if its going to take that long just to change that lil bit I'll be long gone by time we see some real change.

See? That's what you get for watching serious, thought provoking programming. Better stick to the lighter fare that's offered on FOX, NBC etc. You'll be ignorant but probably happier in the long run.

Just turn it off.

I was sitting on the couch realizing that i was pretty fed up with all the marketing i felt was being shoved in my face. Then i realized that 90% of the marketing was coming from TV so i turned it off. Problem fixed!

Seriously though, flip through the channels some time. Like every 5th or 6th channel will have an actual program on. The rest are showing commercials.

Besides, shouldn't we all be outside riding bikes and flying kites or something like that anyways?

I turned mine off about three years ago. Stopped buying the newspaper about a year before that. All the information I need and a whole lot more that I don't is available right here on the Internet. I believe I'm saving my mind and my money too.

Unfortunately, that is one of the leading misconceptions about global warming. Granted it all depends on which "climate model" you decide to believe in, but nevertheless something needs to be done about it - now.

Al Gore's little movie...umm... can't think of the name of it, but its a good little "doomsday" watch. Quite frankly, I think a "better safe than sorry" approach would be best when were talking about GLOBAL CATASTROPHIC climate changes, but hey I don't like the cold

But then again, just how old are yah, maybe you really will be long gone before things start to change.

So what about all the discussion that a warmer climate will be good for the globe and is it true that the polar ice cap at the south pole is really expanding.

I've also read all of the oldest data from the weather records was removed because it was showing that we did have a period of warmer weather than what we are currently experiencing.

Before you say that is all just propaganda spread by the oil companies let me remind you that is exactly what the people that put out that information say about the other side. All of these high paid eco-warriors that estsablish there own companies and pay only themselves while all of there work is done by volunteers would be broke and out of work.

Ah, so now we are back to the global cooling theory of the 1970s. You know, I'm perfectly willing to join the doomsday crowd running around screaming my head off, just make up your friggin' mind. Do you want me to scream "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" or do you want me to scream "The sea is rising! The sea is rising!" Please take a vote to decide on the cataclysmic tragedy we are destined to bring upon ourselves so we can all get some sleep for a change.

The warmer climate, according to the "experts" mind you, is definitely not a good thing. A warmer climate will lead to more violent storms (typhoons, hurricanes), more severe droughts (kinda like the desert, it will be dry, then flood, dry out then flood), the sahara will expand.... Eventually we would get to the point where the ice caps will melt causing a "shock" to the salty ocean (due to the ice caps being fresh water). In the mean time, the sea levels are rising, which is a huge issue due to the fact that it will displace many people, especially in india, due to flooding. That "shock" to the ocean will cause the currents to cease, which will cause temperatures semi-near the poles to plummet (England will be under ice supposedly).

-take a breath-

I haven't heard about the deletion of the oldest data, but I kinda doubt it's true (let me explain ) Right now, what we do have, are records of the climate up to I believe... 600,000 years ago, which is a prettttttyy frreeeaakin long time, which shows trends of course of our climate and the elements in our atmosphere. Long story short, the "greenhouse gases" in our atmosphere are off the charts compared to any time in the last 600,000 years. I don't remember why, but there is a reason we can only look back 600,000 years.

Another point, something I think people need to be more aware of. While the climate is getting warmer, it is NOT a linear graph. Meaning, the avg. temp doesn't go from 74, to 75, 76 and so on. The the data that we have gathered from the afforementioned ^^^^ shows that, and for unknown reasons, that the climate kinda jags...or bounces...its way up or down. The trend right now is that it is going up, but that doesn't mean we won't have "cooler" years ahead of us, it just means that "cooler" in the future will be warmer than it is considered now.... make sense?

This is not to say that you don't have some merit in the fact that BOTH sides of the story like to shoot out propoganda. People are terrible little buggers.

With the data shown however, it is logical that we are causing global climate changes. To put that on a timeline though, THAT portion is debateable.

Sorry for the veerrrrry long post
