OK, we are in the heart of riding season and I wanted to remind everyone that blood donations are trailing the demand. If you ride and are able, donate. Your life may be riding on it.
Well done Mkchev aren't you starting to look like a colander ?
I was taken off the emergency call list as it seems reluctant to leave my veins. I would be laying down ages donating and other people would be giving their pint and be off before I managed half a pint. The nurse called me "A slow bleeder!"
Paid? Not necessarily. Most blood is donated but there are some donor sites where you get paid. If I understand it, that blood gets used outside the USA or in testing. Hospitals and the Red Cross might give you a t-shirt or a coupon for a discount at some fast-food outlet or book store.
Regardless, more donations worldwide are needed. I have a hard time realizing that, at my job, I am the only person who donates. Many times, if it is brought up, folks act like you are nuts for being willing to be stuck. Personally, I hope those folks never need it.
