Sorry to say I witnessed Frank DeGray's classic shop in Ellington picked apart by the vultures at auction today.
Frank was a regional enduro champion and expert classic triumph builder.
Last shop left from my adolescent years.
It was a sad sight.

Dang, it sucks when an Icon and a locally run business closes for whatever reason. Nothing as cool ever takes it's place. It'l never be the same.

Unfortunately is seems to have been a matter of health.

The twist of the knife was when the auctioneer said that the adjacent Harley dealership would probably buy up the property and do who knows what with it.

We had a shop in North Jersey, The Sport Spot, where I bought my first bike (Norton) in 72. The owner Bob Wycoff sold only Euro bikes and refused to sell Jap bikes. Eventually in the late 80's he sold out due to health reasons to a Harley shop, I was in the area recently and stopped by. In stead of a nice shop with Norton's, Triumphs, BSAs, Ducati's, Moto Gussi's BMWs, MVs, Bennelli's there was a glitzy cooky cutter 2 story HD shop. Their clothing dept was the size of the original show room.

Bob was a real biker When he was near 30 he married his 16 year old bride and honeymooned by riding to Alaska on his 500cc BSA single.

The Vultures are actually not a bad thing. They keep the parts in circulation. Classic Cycles in NJ buys up stock from defunct dealers and has a thriving business in restoring and supplying parts for enthusiasts. If you need a NOS gas tank for a 71 Triumph he has it. When he goes someone else will get the stuff.

It's always sad when the tourch is passed however

Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
On a lighter note, you get anything from the auction?

The 68 Bonne and 66 TR6C of interest went beyond my budget.
I was interested in papergoods from the 50s & 60s but ran out of time long before they got to that lot. There were 305 lots in the auction.
