A Triumph rider in my age group was sadly killed this week in the street I live in. What are the chances of that?

The local daily rag ran a quarter page on it. Here`s the article.

The Bulletin

For the last two days I`ve been inundated with telephone calls from friends and aquaintances, some of whom, I haven`t heard from in quite a while. Some pretended they were just ringing to say hello, others were more honest and said, "Thank god, we thought it was you!"

Some even rang my wife and asked after me. Go figure!

It`s a sobering insight as to what would happen if I really did get wiped out on the bike. I`d never really thought about how friends and family would cope with it.

Food for thought.

Rob,
Being as it was a Triumph rider, was it someone from the local RAT Pack or someone that you knew?

Hi Robbo,
well I know your younger than that.

But I am glad it wasn't you.

It is always sad knews when this happens.

My very good friend and riding buddy has another (both ex racers) friend who recently while on a ride had his two riding mates crash at well over 200kph just a couple of months ago. These guys are very hard core racing types.

Both are in hospital still and this happened in the hills of another capital city.

Glad your still with us Rob. Do you know who it was?

DaveM

I still don`t know who it was. I don`t think it was a pack member, I`d seen a silver 1050 sprint in my street a couple of times, never got to meet the rider so I assume it was him.
Thanks for all the kind sentiments, over the last couple of years I`ve seen a couple of regulars suddenly stop posting on here and I`d always hope it wasn`t a bad accident that caused their absence.
There are several bunches of flowers and cards attached to the traffic lights at the end of my street, I`ll stop tomorrow morning and check for a name.

Glad it wasn't you Rob, but a sad day when any rider goes down  ....

A good reminder folks - watch for our own errors as well as the other bastards out to get us!

good to hear your still with us rob.

im stunned at the figures that article quotes. 22 riders killed in just 17 months just on the gold coast............ill be riding a little slower tomorrow.

by the way - hows Mark Middleton going. He dumped his sprint on a rock that came offthe back of a truck awhile back I think.

he was pretty banged up..........hope he's going ok

He`s still not back at work, He`ll be OK sooner or later but I don`t think his wife will let him ride again. I saw the Sprint, it was pretty trashed.
