Hey everyone, I have a question for you. I am buying a 98 TBS out of state. I have two options in transport — I can hire a transport company OR I was thinking about buying a cheap, full-sized van to do it myself, thus getting more bang for my buck (I can use the van for other things in the future). So here is my question: Will A TBS fit in the back of a full-sized van?

Also, does anyone know of any modestly priced transport companies with good reputations?

Thanks for your help,

Bill

My S3 would fit into a E150 van - just. But try calling forward air for a quote http://www.forwardair.com/ - it would involve the co-operation of the guy you bought the bike from but might be less fuss. I shipped a bike from Virginia beach to Sacramento for $440 - 3 years ago, probably more expensive now but give them a call.

If the plane ticket getting there were cheaper I'd take that option in a heartbeat.

You can rent a U-Haul motorcycle trailer for about $12 a day.

Check out this thread Gear and Gadgets - Trailer for bike

Bottom of first page has pics of a van. Has two bikes (Daytonas I think) in it.

Van Pics

Plus other good bike transport discussion. Found my solution here. (Harbor Freight Folding Trailer) :-D

I friend of mine has a big Ford econoline, he uses it to transport his bike every now and then and it does a fine job for him.

I had to transport my bike last year, so I picked up a small collapse-able trailer called trailer in a bag. It worked great, and takes up no room for storage. Was a little bit of an initial investment, but now if needed I always have a method of getting my bike somewhere when riding is not an option
