...for a bike purchased on e-bay. Is it possible? What do I need to do?
I'm looking at some cheap bikes from the 70's, but they don't have titles. How do I go about getting that taken care of?

Anyone?

Thanks...

Your local DMV should be able to advise you on what is required.

Seriously, Wombat is right.
You don't need to pay somebody in Las Vegas to do what you can do yourself at your DMV. Its not like they haven't done it before.

Wombat and oldnbumb are both correct. Nobody can issue a valid title but a state government, so a middleman can't really do anything for you that you can't do yourself. Since vehicle registration is handled at the county level in most states, there'll be someone at your county courthouse who can tell you what steps are required where you live.

In fact, title law varies so widely between states that you may find you cannot get (nor even need) a title for vehicles of a certain age. A bill of sale from the last owner and an inspection of the VIN by your county sheriff may be all you need to register and tag the vehicle. Check with your county to be sure.

In fact, in Kansas you have to do a VIN check with any vehicle coming from another state, title or no, because our revenue department doesn't have a lot of faith in paper titles from other states anyway. A lot of them don't mean much--partly because of abuse of loopholes in some states' lax title laws by "title mills."

Thanks!

Yeah, I guess a bill of sale on a 30 year old motorcycle and a clean VIN would work.

I'm looking to get an early 70's Honda to wrench on.....I bid on one, but didn't meet the reserve.

I think that action may get you more of a reputation than a title.
