Some of you may remember this -

Double Jeopardy

where my bike suffered a rear shunt twice in one day!

Well the update is that 17 months later

Wally 2, got away with only the damage to pay on his own vehicle, he did little damage to mine.

Wally 1 having spent a considerable amount of time making his identity obscure in a hope to avoid liability was finally prosecuted. The tally was £100 for driving with no licence, £400 for driving with no insurance, 6 points and a years ban on his non-existent licence.

Now this is minor to what he should have been charged with for ramming a vehicle with a Subaru Imprezza which he clearly was not in control of. On the other hand however it did look for a long time like he was going to walk away from it all, so I am delighted. I am now awaiting a small insurance payment from the central fund. This will be slightly larger due to the fact that we finally pinned his identity despite mis-spelled names and vague addresses.

What still nacks me off most is he and his mate sat quietly in their vehicle whist I struggled to kick free of bike pinning me to the ground.

Lil

Enough said!!

Well, I am very happy he got his come-uppance, morons like that don't deserve driving licences.

Mare,

Mate will do nicely. I live in Northern Ireland so don't get it very much now but it took me back to days in England. In my family we do a lot with 'lad' and 'lass' which are terms I am fond of to.

I call everyone mate, thing is its difficult to know how to address females in the UK, if you know someone reasonably well you dont call them by their name all the time and if your old like me I am terrible at remembering names anyway, local dialects can be used such as sweetheart, love, lass and cause huge offence to some females from other places, (Suffolk folk call both male and female "Darling") to avoid such minefeilds the use of mate can and does get used especially by me! no one can take offence to it. Its a get out I know but I find it usefull as no one can say I am not your mate unless they dont like you, but ladies on my staff team could say that they are being harrassed or demeaned by any of the other terms, sad I know but thats how it is here, I will always call you sweetheart though cos I know your sweet!

In my home state of NEW Jersey, we call everyone "guys". Same concept, I guess.

I DO avoid saying "youse guys" tho. Now that I've moved south, I've switched to y'all.

ps - I think you're sweet too, doodle darlin!

Hey, Lil, do you know County Roscommon? That's where my ma's folks are from.
