Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
It happens in big cities, London they park absolutely anywhere. If there's space its fine by me.

You'd probably get a ticket here if you were blocking the path, in general parking on the 'pavement' as the sidewalk is called here is illegal. However if your bike was tucked out of the way in a corner after crossing the pavement you would be ok.

Here in Hawaii the cops are fairly bike friendly in that regard, as long as it is not causing an obstruction in any way.
I step back from where I park and if it looks like it is in the way of people moving about, I move the bike.

I've had this as an issue here in Louisville for a few years. Essentially, anywhere EXCEPT the central business district downtown, you can park on the sidewalk w/o bringing down the heat.

Parking restrictions are more strict downtown (not the laws, but the people dishing out the tickets). Anything under state law that requires a license plate can't park on the sidewalk. So scooters up to 250cc's can, w/o problems. But motorcycles can't.

It ticks me off... Especially when there's a 650cc Honda scooter in downtown that parks on the sidewalk, and never gets a ticket. But I've gotten tickets before for the same thing... ugg.

So what I do is, find a nice curb flare/cut-out, that's not striped as "no parking", and pull in there. There's almost always one available right outside my work. Been parking there for 2.5 years, with only 1 ticket (that I fought and beat).

As far as "socially acceptable"... If I wanted to be socially acceptable, I'd drive a cage to work...

Thanks for the responses all very helpfull. It looks like there might be a max cc size allowed on the sidewalk in Boulder its 50 CC's

The GSX has a smaller engine but if parked on the sidewalk which one would get a ticket ?

(I know its not a Triumph but Triumph wouldn't dare make a scooter)

In Brisbane you can park on the footpath (as we call it) as long as it does not obstruct pedestrians.

I know where there are particular areas where there are lines of bikes. Great for perving..

I am sure that if it was a busy footpath they would fine you though.

Sydney footpaths aren't as wide as others, so there are very few places you can park without obstruction. Then if you do find a place, if it's inside the building line, the building manager comes and ticks you off, or tows the bike. To their credit, Sydney city have tried to cater for street parking, which is free, but usually a block or three from where you want to be, and a strong target for thieves. Some pubs and restaurants are happy for you to park there, because it attracts attention, but providing you don't face your pipe into their premises when you start up to leave... Yes, I've seen it....

Melbourne is the place to see bikes parked on the pathways, literally hundreds in a row, sometimes preventing people from crossing the street, but it's accepted practice.

I've got a free undercover spot at work, so I'm happy.
