however devistating for the rider and the family of the child..
the emotional mess of the rider would be horrific..
sounds like the rider was lucky to survive

It sounded like complete BS at first, but I can understand the ruling.

Nope, not BS - the accident happened literally 4 minutes from where I live and the situation is really unfortunate.

However the boy was on a national limit dual carriageway either playing chicken or trying to cross the road ... right under a footbridge, so no way was this the biker's fault - it's just not something you expect to happen on a busy road.
