A while back I mentioned an up coming auction, and was asking for opinions as to pricing a Bantam Cub.
Well, as it turned out, I didn't make it to the auction (um, er, it was a most beautiful day and the siren call of the links goddess was too much for me.)

Anyhoo, the Cub went for $2400. But what was more surprising , at least to me, was that the majority of Triumphs on hand were left unsold, as reserves were not met.

AUCTION RESULTS

:hammer:

Wow; those are some really nice Triumphs. But you know what they say; if you want to make $10,000 restoring motorcycles, start with $20,000....

Call of the links goddess indeed.

I'm a little disappointed in you, Scott. But I understand.

I think sellers believe their old ***** is worth more than people are willing to pay for it, and that link reflects this. I look through various online and print adverts and some of the prices people are asking for their old bikes is insane. Just because it's old doesn't make it valuable and nostalgia is becoming tiresome.

Hey tba-golfer
Just look at as money well not spent,on something that may not bring you as much pleasure as your TBA, or day on the links.
your sub-conscious was in control.

Yea... that's it!

Actually, I think that was part of it, in that I had zero idea about pricing, and examining for conditioning, etc. I know I would have had the urge...

There's another auction this fall. We'll see how it goes, what the weather is like, and if the drinks cart is on patrol!

:-D
