Just got an Email from a fellow employee about the new addition to his family. It is a Harley Sportster. I am having a hard time not sending back a smart a$$ reply. Should I be nice, or flame him?

He included a picture in the Email and he sent this to everyone in his address book like a birth announcement.

A little ribbing wouldn't be out of order.

I have to admit casting a lustful eye at a Sportster  .

I went to the Triumph Open House at Eurosport Cycles in Fort Worth in March. Among the pre-owned bikes they displayed was a 2004 H-D 1200S Sportster. Black, triple disc brakes, piggyback shocks, cast wheels, low/flat handlebar. 6500 miles/$6500, very clean.

I took a seat and liked it. The pegs were set back rather than stretched out. I envisioned making this ride into a cool quasi cafe-racer. Tempting.

I also test rode a Ducati ST3 while I was there and was impressed with the ride. But not near enough to trade in my Sprint :-)

Sigh!!! So many motorcycles, so little cash :lollol:

I think a hearty congrats would be in order first.
The ribbing would be secondary.
Be sure and send him this link.

If he can laugh about it take him for a ride.
My main riding partner rides a shovelhead. We call it the Harley Valdez. I keep an old piece of carpet for him to park on. We refer to it as the Harley litterbox.

You could remind him that 98% of all Harley ever made are still on the road.

The rest made it home by nightfall...

Classic.

Anyway, does your friend know that Harley's are just another motorcycle, and why would anyone care if he bought one or didn't buy one, or bought a Honda??

And why would you send an e-mail to people? Especially one as silly as a birth announcement.

The whole thing sounds weird if you ask me

:-D

Has he been hiding himself? Send him the Brad gets a Harley video.

Birth announcement? Hope he's got diapers; all babies do is eat, poop, and sleep. If you're going to send out something resembling a birth announcement about a motorcycle, you'd better not be thin skinned.
