Does anyone know if it is possible to install a kick-start on an 86 Honda Rebel (CMX 450)? The starter clutch is going and its a hefty bill for a bike that's not worth much... or any other suggestions?

Well when I took it into the local shop the guy said it would be about an $800 fix - I guess on this model it takes a long time to do just that....my brother-in-law wants to take th bike off me so I'm just trying to figure out the best options

Had an old Honda w/ a sheared off kick start. Used to take irt & beat on it in the woods every weekend. Never died! Had to get used to the ole POP-START. Got quite good @ it even on the dirt. Rebel should be an easy cantidate being so light & mild mannered? :hammer:

Yeah it is high- he didn't really want to do it - boat anchor might be the way to go - we'll see

_ oh and the pop-start works for me - but not for someone who's never ridden I would think - I have visions of him flying into traffic

Any thing is possible, that being said it wouldn't be any cheaper to do that. If any thing an engine transplant may be an option. A cmx motor comes on ebay every now and again. Or possibly an older cb/cl450. The 450 rebels are fairly desirable and may actually be worth fixing.
