I was wondering who else might be involved in this.
I signed up. I think it's the least I can do, it is a noble cause.

I've been a member for a while. It is a good group and noble cause. Have you been on a mission yet? It is not a good time and you will stand around a lot so wear comfortable boots if you can. You will understand why you are there though.

Jimbo, there are a number of forum posters who are members (I am not) and member or not, all see the value of what the organization does. The "religious" whackos who protested at funerals (and helped instigate the formation of the PGR) have been seemingly quiet as of late, but they will undoubtedly return or mutate.
Good on ya.

HERE'S ONE thread I found, (there are others) from the "Search" Feature on the left, using code words "Patriot Guard Riders."

Jimbo,

I'm a PGR Ride Capt. and we had our latest mission here in Feb. The "wackos" showed up and while tense for a bit, it was one of the most gratifying things i have ever done. Good on ya and feel free to pm or email me if there is anything i can do to help.

Who would protest a funeral?

That seems strange....

No one's protesting the funeral itself, but they are using the funerals as a way to get attention for their war protests. Agree with the war or not, the protests are in VERY poor taste.

I've done two missions, both very emotional. Great group of people. It's all about respect for the individual and family of someone that gave their life defending our way of life. The only experience in my life that compared was meeting one of the Iranian hostage Marines when I was just out of boot camp.

Nothing compares to holding a flag along with 50 or so others, paying respects as the flag draped casket passes by followed by the family, and knowing that protesters are just outside the cemetary gate.

The protestors are a group of very hateful people whom use religion as an excuse. They are the same bunch that head the "God hates fags". These people are very sick in the head.

These idiots:

The westboro Baptist "Church"...

IMHO, regardless of how someone feels about the war, there is NEVER a reason to take that out on the troops.
