After being stuck inside for the past couple of days and spending lots of time reading this and a few other bike forums, I'm wondering why some of you seem to hate other brands or styles of bikes so much. There are plenty of bikes that I wouldn't own but there aren't any that I despise like some of you seem to. To prove my point just do a search on this forum for Harley Davidson or look at Wombat's post from today about the latest thing in custom wheels. I wouldn't own the bike pictured but I surely don't share Welshrob's feelings that "all they need to do is figure out a way to make the rest of that heap of S#1T invisible too and the motorcycling world will be a better place." I've been riding for almost 40 years now and couldn't imagine how boring it would be without such a variety of bikes as we have today. Has anyone here ever ridden a bike that wasn't fun on some level? Several years ago I dropped my Confederate off at the dealer for some warranty work and was loaned a Malagutti scooter to get home on. I had so much fun riding around Denver that I didn't take it back until the next day. Was it a bike that I would have owned? No, but I wouldn't look down on you for riding one. My first bike was a 1965 Suzuki 120 that was not only ugly but slow and ill handling as well. I didn't care, I still rode the wheels off of it and enjoyed every minute of it. I guess my point is that we are lucky to have all the choices available to us as to what we ride and I wouldn't want it any other way. Would you?

Nope, the only bikes worth having are those on the "Official Stevent List of Acceptable Motorcycles" ie, bikes I either have owned in the past, bikes I now own or bikes I would like to own in future. All others are clearly junk and should be immediately confiscated, carried out past the 12 mile limit and committed to the deep.

I don't necessarily hate other bikes. Actually own other than Triumph, but when it comes to HD it's 99% of the morons that own them that I could do without and I really don't think the world would miss anything or be any less exciting if that type of person never saw the road again, goes for the squids to ya know. Then there is the 1% of decent people that own HD that are actually cool as heck. Oh I forgot about the chopper crowd.........I put them in with the 99% of HD personalities I don't like. ;-)

I don't hate HD's, it is one of those things where it is hated by association. Around here, the RUB's(Rich Urban Biker, for those who don't know this) all own these and have an attitude as if they are better than everyone else. These guys are typically not real bikers either. They throw on all their gear that has HD emblems, ride about 5 miles to the local pub, unstraddle the bike as if they own the whole world, and look down upon anyone riding something else. And at the same time if you ask any specifications of the bike, they can only tell you "It's a V Twin". Oil changes? yeah right, they wouldn't even know how to take the drain plug out.
But there a few that will do the wave, and truly are interested in other style rides in a positive manner.

Im with Steve. Like/Dislike is a subjective matter. I think that all the bikes I've owned/will own reflect the owners good taste. Ergo, anything that I dont like must be krepe.
Same with airplanes too.
:-D :-D :-D

:gpst: ,
I'd have to agree with you shades. I've owned mostly Jap bikes before my Triumph and don't have any problem with other brands but like Techman said it's not the other bikes I detest it's the "I'm better than you" attitude you get from those knuckleheads. As long as it's got 2 wheels I'm OK with it, I just prefer Triumphs.

I've ridden Italian, Japanese, British and American Iron. looking forward to trying out some German bikes and indeed anything else that's out there too. Love bikes. Also love pricking some folks pretentious bubbles - just for a larf.
