I`ve just come back from my favourite french restaurant on the Gold Coast, "The Garlic Clove" and had for starters, Lamb`s brains in garlic butter and for mains, Duck a L`Orange or Duck in orange sauce. I love gamey meats like rabbit, hare, venison, duck and roo etc,
What`s your favourite meal when you dine out?

EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW, Brains, I don't think so, Rob I know your welsh but co'mon! I love anything really but a good mousaka from a decent greek always goes well, and I am a bit of a seventies type as I like prawn cocktail, favourite right now would be soushi, and if I am staying in just some good pat'e and cheese with fresh bread straight from the oven especialy a good runny brie.

Hard to say really, I love Sushi and anything from the sea but my favorite right now is Mexican prawns called Camerones Monterey. It's marinated grilled prawns wrapped in bacon on a bed of sauteed onions, green peppers and garlic with Monterey Jack cheese melted over the top. Served with ranch style beans and Spanish rice and guacamole, washed down with a few Negra Modella's and lime. (urp)
Fabulous, I get hungry just thinking about it.

I couldn't possibly pick a favorite restaurant but my favorite meal is, and always has been, Alaskan king crab legs and a steamed artichoke, with plenty of lemon butter for dipping both.

I'm a big fan of kung pao chicken on brown rice, especially from Pei Wei. I add a TON of chili paste for good measure, and just to keep my colon awake.
Also like fajitas, on corn tortillas, with tons of cilantro and fresh (NEVER PICKLED!!!) jalapenos. Especially from Chuy's here in Austin.
But lately I've been on a crazy fried okra binge, dunno why.
It's gotta be hot baby!

Favorite restaurant is Artisanal in Manhattan. Done up like a french bistro, and esp known for their cheeses. I had the most amazing skatewing there, w/ a sort of citrus dressing. They do flights of cheeses (as you might do a flight of wines) at the end of the meal. Also amazing champagne and oysters. I had my first (only!) Yquem there too.
But, for very favorite-est meal, can't really say. Depends on the COMPANY, mainly! I like everything from brown rice/ steamed veggies, to greasy burgers and fries, to local Caribbean cafeterias, to the full out, 6 or 8 course tasting menu, different wine each course, and ending up w/ espresso and grappa or cognac.
But I am partial to foie gras. Couldn't really get into the whole sweetbreads thing (sorry, welshrob), but for some reason the liver is to die for!!!!!
Hungry now,
Mare

There's a little Greek Cyrptiot family restaurant in Sinclair Drive on the South side of Glasgow. We have been going back there for years. Looks like nothing from the outside, but the food is fabulous. The Kleftiko (leg of lamb, slowly cooked with herbs), washed down with a few cold beers. Finish off with a Keo brandy.

Orlando has a wonderful restaurant 'Le Coq au Vin', it's on Orange, crossed with Gatlin, south of the city. It has superb French country cuisine, Un Lapin "Chasseur", a Cassoulet and many other French dishes and an amazing Creme brulee - I'm sure, for those that wish Lamb's brains, they can be had - but why? The Saddle Peak Lodge, on Piuma(Calabasas, LA ) does yer usual Buffalo and Elk dishes plus some Vegetarian plates for those Bambi lovers amongst us. I happen to be a snob where food is concerned and I find the restaurants in LA have a captive clientele prepared to pay good money for bad food - that will antagonise many, I'm sure - but Mexifornica/Nouveau/Italia-American cuisine and Oriental dishes with peas in them - largely suck a wad, to this ex-pat. These places are pricey but do warrant a visit - a special occasion, a worthy date etc... I would also say they're not biker friendly and have a dress code so don't go turning up in the wife beater, bandana and chaps - definitely not cool! The Bombay Brasserie (sw7) and the Red Fort(dean st.), in London are two of the FINEST Indian restaurants anywhere in the world and will turn most people into gibbering wrecks as the kaleidoscope of flavours are so overwhelming - the Red Fort used to do a great brunch on Sunday - oh the memories.
