Has anyone had any recent issues with shipments from the U.K. to the U.S.? I've had a Wolf Exhaust from Trident.com stuck in Customs for almost a week now. Working through Sales at Trident, I've been told that U.S. Customs has called me and left messages regarding payment for Import Duty: "According to their records they have left several messages for you to contact them but have had no reply." This is BULL -- I've had no messages, much less a telephone call (I triple-checked my caller-id back through December).

Now I've learned from a riding buddy (he's all about Buells), that Homeland Security may be the hold-up:

Has anyone had any similar experiences? All I know is I'm out $900 USD with nothing to show for it!!

"Homeland Security" is the biggest crock going. There's an article yesterday about an 86 year old Marine Fighter Pilot, CMH winner and former Governor being held up for hours while they searched and pawed through his stuff passing the medal and a drilled out bullet keychain around and all. None of those pussies were fit to carry the guys luggage let alone detain him like that. Like the Hero he is, he took it all in stride.

I agree. It's just one example of the way the government can misuse and mismanage our tax dollars -- and not even accomplish the intended goal. Homeland Security? Boy, I feel secure.

But to get back on track: I finally heard from a place called Priority Air Freight at JFK Airport. It seems they've been holding my package, waiting to collect the duty taxes on it: another $85 I wasn't expecting to pay (only $19 is actually the tax, with a $50 "entry" fee and a $15 "handling" fee). Don't you just love it?

I'm guessing there was a lack of communication between Trident/Wolf and Priority Air Freight: PAF did not have my phone number, only had my first/middle initials and last name (so they couldn't look up my number) -- they even had my town and zip code wrong on the manifest!

I have to give Trident/Wolf credit though: they did finally get back with PAF and get them my phone number. And at long last, after bending over and taking it like a man, in a few days, DHL should show up at my door with my package from the old country. I just hope Homeland Security doesn't get a hold of the package, and drill out the carbon fiber can to see if there are explosives in there!
