I wish someone would send out a memo that they don't HAVE to be sleazy, either. Some class acts, and plenty of skank.

Didja just see Christina Ricci's earrings? I OWN those earrings! Marcasite and about 5 inches long... Don't wear them too much lately, for the bears, and squirrels, and racoons...

Vindicated! Utterly and totally vindicated! I am of course talking about The Dixie Chicks of whom I so often refer.

To all those brain dead muppets who tell them to shut up and sing well I guess now is the time to bury your heads in concrete for a few hundred years. They wiped the floor at the Grammy's and deservedly so. And, at the same time, put up two fingers to oppressive censorship.

Cool when you can dominate the news on the music net

Long may you live girls and I'll always be loyal. You're welcome in England anytime.

As Bobby once sang: "The times they are a changin'."

Arch, I don't know you well enough but I hope you're kidding. I hate to think you are foolish enough to believe those awards were anything but a statement from the left-wing entertainment industry who oppose all things republican. The Dixie Chicks got skunked in the Country Music Awards because they stink. Do you really, really think former president Jimmy Carter deserved a Grammy for "Best Spoken Record?" Of course not, but he's anti-Bush so that makes him a Grammy winner.

And please don't use words when you don't know what they mean, especially "censorship." I hear that word misused more than any other word I can think of. Please look it up in the dictionary. If you need a present-day definition, see "political correctness."

As far as your offer goes to take them off our hands, I vote "YES." If on the other hand you are much smarter and wittier than I give you credit for being, I say "you got me," and I guess we're stuck with them.

KingBear. I won't give you a lecture on censorship as the right wing U.S. is the world leader in oppression and censorship. I know you wouldn't want me to list them all but McCarthy's blacklist would be a good start - the creep destroyed hundred of lives before his pathetic downfall. I'd best not mention the North affair.

I'm glad there is a perception of the entertainment industry being left wing. It balances off the right wing agenda of the likes of Fox and similar filth.

Carter. I'd love to see Bush do a spoken record. Man, that would be a laugh and a half. Probably become a world seller especially with such pearls of wisdom as:

"Make no mistake about it, I understand how tough it is, sir. I talk to families who die."

"The only way we can win is to leave before the job is done."

Does he really come from the same state as the Dixie Chicks or is he an alien from the planet Dork?

Finally.

"And please don't use words when you don't know what they mean, especially "censorship." I hear that word misused more than any other word I can think of. Please look it up in the dictionary."

I resent being patronised. If you don't think that radio stations pulling the plug on the Chicks and concerts being cancelled is not censorship then it is you that needs to understand the concept and ramifications of censorship.

Jeez. What a shame that John - don't call me Marion - Wayne isn't around. Still we got that old gun waving lunatic Chuck Heston to wave the flag - but not for long.

I refer you to the McLibel trial and the trial concerning Lady Chatterley's lover and even the 'Oz' trial.

:-D

p.s. It is likely I shall be writing a book on censorship in the film industry. Meantime I'm going to listen to some more Dizie Chicks and that extreme right winger, Randy Newman.
