I'm rethinking my two wheeled fleet (if 2 can be called a fleet) and wondering what you thought. I currently have a Suzuki V-Strom 650. A great comfy ride, especially for two-up. Almost like a mini goldwing. The wife recently aquired a little 50cc TNG Venice scoot. Once she gets comfortable with that I thought maybe we could get something bigger that either of us could ride alone or two up. She has no interest in learning how to ride a motorcycle. I know technically she would have to take the class to ride anything bigger than what she has, but I'll deal with that later. Meanwhile I want to pick up a Thruxton for me. :-D
So any suggestions on a decent sized scooter? The 'Zuki Burgman seems to be pretty popular but i don't know if I want THAT much scoot.

So in the end i'm thinking Thrux for me, scoot for her/two-up. Our own little Mod vs Rocker thing.

Well definitely the Thruxton, I wouldn't mind one myself.

Save the scooter until you need it to collect your pension.

I'm secure enough in my masculinity to admit that I think scooters are cool. Especially Vespas, but $$$

Really cool scoots at Genuine Scooter site.

Before I paid the price for a Vespa I'd get a Burgman, Yamaha, or Honda. They all make some really nice maxi scooters. I've had my 96 Honda Helix for too many years and still love to ride it.

The PS250 Honda Big Ruckus is discontinued after 2006 but the Honda Reflex has the same drive line.

My Honda Ruckus NPS50 is great fun to ride as is the Yamaha Vino 125 even if it is a bit choppy.

A scooter is great around town and many are beginning to tour on the maxi scooters. The line between scooter and motorcycle is becoming blurred.

Bottom line is scooters are fun, easy and great on gas. Mine get from 60 to 110mpg.

It takes a REAL man to ride a scooter and ignore the labelers. :-D :-D

But you know, nothing is better than getting on the Bonnie and blasting down the road.

There's another scooter thread over in Bonnie Owner's Forum that has some scooter forum links.

Hey Dennis,

I don't know how much scoot you're looking for but the Yamaha Vino 125 with windshield gets 80mpg and does 60mph with my big butt on it. I would have bought another Honda but they go from 49cc (Ruckus) to 80cc (Honda Elite - as old as the Helix) and then jump to 250cc. The Reflex is 250cc and good looking.
The Yamaha was just the right size, parts available, repair manual available online (pdf) and dealers everywhere, four stroke air cooled.
Burgmans are available in a 400cc.

d2mini. If you're interested, here's a lead on a very low mileage Yamaha XC125 Riva.

It's a bit of a distance, but might be a good deal. This is the Two Wheeled Texans forum, great site for Lone Star riders!

Aprillia makes a nice looking big scoot, 400 or 500cc I think. I talked to a guy in Calgary that rode one two up with his wife, said he had no problem keping up with traffic, handed good and lots of luggage space.

Are you sure about that Nick?

Here are some pics of spotty teenagers and London lovies on scooters.

In case you aren`t wearing your glasses, the first one is Valentino Rossi and the second one is Michael Schumacher.

Question: What do the following, very talented and quick motorcycle riders have in common?

Valentino Rossi
Max Biaggi
James Toseland
Leon Haslam
Welshrob

Answer: They all started out racing scooters!

I love scooters! If I needed to commute, I`d have a Vespa GTS 250 in the Garage with the rest of the fleet! Sadly, due to the nature of my work, I have to use the car.
