The Shed of Doom

So, there's a sportbike forum I read here, which is based in British Columbia Canada. A regular member posts up that his landlord is building this ridiculous shed in his backyard with virtually no tools, and no regard for anything normal construction-wise. In the last 10 days or so it's gone from a funny little local thread to 1.1M views and re-posts all over the world. I have no doubt that probably 10-15M people have seen it by now.

Nice find DAMOMO. Here's the "Caveman Man Cave" nearer to "completion".

Oh my. This is frigging fantastic stuff. I haven't read through the entire original thread yet...because I am laughing so hard my gut hurts.

Edit: I just remembered Prop's shed build. Prop didn't do it this way though, hmm.

Saw that Friday. EPIC! And I've seen some hobbled together buildings in my days but nothing quite as special as that one.

I am offended both as a caveman and a builder.

Hope building inspectors see the vid before a kid wanders in or near that thing. Slightest wind or a bit of rain and it's coming down.

I figured it'd collapse when he carried the first bundle of shingles up but it didn't. I guess 5' rafter spans work after all. And here I thought the guy that built a porch and deck on one of my places was an idiot going 3' on center with the floor joists. Don't make me tell you about the amount of screws and nails they used securing the kitchen cabinet bases to the floor.

I don't think it's a shed. I hope the neighbour still has the camera rolling when the family moves in.

Garage
I had a neighbor that built a shack like that as a garage extension. They didn't bother to get a building permit or their plans ( they had none ) approved, so it only took a phone call to get it taken down. The sag in the middle of the 10 ft long building was 8 inches.
For what lumber and hardware costs it would be cheaper to have someone do it right. Our Asian friend will find that out soon.

insert clever saying here...
