Ouch...
...

Ive never cared much for corvettes (the vettes of the 70s and beyond)...my brother-in-law had several...and hes a doucher...so I always thought they were synonymous...

I digress...

It needs flip up headlights and a split rear window...

Looks like they were thinking about the rear window...

I don't like it.

It looks like it was styled by a committee and everyone's suggestions were used. There's just so much styling. I don't like the quarter windows and I don't like the back end. The '56-'57 front grille looks out of place. Oh, and a seven-speed manual?

I do like the quad exhaust in the middle and that the Corvette no longer shares its steering wheel with 95% of GM's other cars.

I wasn't going to say this but when I was much younger I read the Beetle Bailey comic strip for the humor in my life. Now I like your blog but you don't post every day. Just the facts Lefty, not a new leaf till 2014.

If I can put on my pedantic Corvette nerd hat on for a sec, I have an issue with this sentence:

The Stingray name was introduced in 1963 and last used in 1976.
No, it wasn't. The '63 to '67 Corvettes used Sting Ray and '69 to '76 used Stingray. Either name was not used on the car in '68.

Let me add one more thing: active rev matching is lame. If you can't rev match on your own, you shouldn't be driving a manual transmission, period.

UH, it isn't saying the name was used continuously, it's just stating it was first used in '63 and last used in '76.... At least that's how I read it and the other guys here STS with me....

It's kinda weird for me. I had a 3rd Gen RX7 that the Corvette "ripped off" the side gills styling from and now have the 5th Gen Camaro that the Corvette has now "ripped off" the rear haunches and tailights from.... Oh well, at least it is in the family now... :D

I'm torn on the Vette. Glad the Stingray name is back but not sure why it returned. Kind of dig the headlights and side view but don't like the rear at all. Too much bling masking what is probably a very capable car. With Camaros going for $50K+, the Stingray will have to bump against $100K. Still, performance-wise, it'll be a bargain.

It's a shame that most of it looks so ugly.

I think it is too angular for a 'vette, especially a Stingray... and the taillights look like a camaro. The passenger grab handle in the center is a feature I just remarked on in the new SRT Viper earlier today when reading Car & Driver, wonder where that idea came from?

Guys, I am sorry I posted this story. Irish tells me the C6 story of 2001 or so is still the top news story so hold your comments about the new Sting Ray for a couple years. Again, very sorry to have bothered ya.:(

I figure $112K+ will get you a ZR-1, which isn't much more than today's ZR-1. If it has more power, more efficiency and a seven-speed manual (weird), it could be worth the hike.

A base Corvette starts at just under $50K, so figure a little more for the base C7.

Really, the only thing I don't like about the car is that stupid looking Camaro rear end. I mean, did GM suddenly run out of inspiration and say, "meh, it's Friday night, let's just put this there"

I have only ever driven one Corvette and it was a late 80's early 90's that this guy had beat to the ground. Even the rear end was trashed and it wandered all over the road.

The emblem is pretty cool tho and it really does look like a cool guitar. Paint frets and stings on it just for fun.
