FLU...I got the shot and later on the flu.
I got a flu shot a two months ago. Well I am home today with the flu. I feel like crap. I was wondering how many of you out there have gotten the flu shot and later got the flu? The coughing, sputum, fever, sore throat etc. It has been running rampant through out the area and coast to coast across the US. The problem is it can live on a service and you touch it then touch your face ...well that is all that is needed. While most health care workers try not to touch their face it is inevitable that they will. My pet peeve is that people get it and come to work coughing and spreading it. I am a firm believer if you get something like this stay the heck home.

Flu shots usually only give around 70% protection, due to the rapidly evolving nature of flue it would be almost impossible for them to cover every strain every year.
Although now it comes to thinking of it, I'd imagine you know that anyway.

There is a strain making the rounds that wasn't included in the vaccine this year. The vaccine is intended to protect against three strains, determined each year to be the most likely strains people will run across. Please people, get the shot. True influenza (most people when they say they have the flu don't, trust me you'll know) is the leading killer of all vaccine-preventable diseases in the US, killing around 32,000 people last year.

Spank your right. This is the first year that i have gotten it with having the flu shot.
I guess I am ticked off that so many people feel the need to come to work sick. Especially since patients can catch as well.
Owen you are 100 percent right. The vaccine usually protects ....I mean I always get it and have not had the flu in years.

Flu shots are one of the biggest furphies pushed by health systems and pharmaceuticals. They are virtually pointless, maybe even detrimental to social health; according to the info I have gathered.

Wash your hands often, don't touch your face, and stay away from the "sprayers" and you'll be okay. I don't do needles.
Edit: Sorry, just saw another post that mentioned nasal sprayers. When I wrote "sprayers" I meant the people who don't cover their mouth when they sneeze.

Stay outside in a tent all winter. That's my advice.
The flu shot can't give you the flu although it can sometimes make you feel a bit crappy.
The problem is companies don't want you to make everyone else sick but they don't want you off sick either so people feel compelled to come in when they aren't too bad but are still horrendously infectious.

I got the nasal spray! The shot in spray form. Apparently it works better than the "shot.
I have a child with severely impaired immunity so the whole family gets it.
We get the shot every year - we don't get the flu - but we all did get Norwalk virus!
