True definition of 1%ers

I think a lot of Bikers on this site have a misconception of what the 1%er label really means. This is claimed to be a reference to a comment made by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in which they stated that 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, implying that the last one percent were outlaws. The clubs that didnt want to be a part of the AMA thought it would be funny to adopt this. 99% of motorcycle enthusiasts are law abiding citizens, the remaining 1% that consider their selves to be hardcore bikers; the one percent of society that doesn’t fit in and doesn’t want to fit in. They are untrusting of the ‘citizen’ lifestyle because everyone is only out for themselves but the biker covenant guarantees that their brothers will always be there for him, to back him up in whatever threatens him or his family. They are also known to party wildly and with complete abandon. No club that isn’t hardcore enough is allowed to wear a 1% patch usually warn on a diamond shaped patch. I dont wear a 1% patch, but I respect the counter culture lifestyle bing a product of the 60's. I am constantly fighting the false Idea that Triumph riders are a bunch of "Rubs" (rich urban bikers) spoiled, and uncaring of other riders. They do respect the Australians regardless of what they ride as rugged individualists.

Does anyone really care?

I'm not one of them nor do I feel a particular need to respect them.

The current politicly correct version of 1%ers is anyone who still has a job and pays taxes to support the rest.

haven't we done the 1% threads enough already?

When was the last 1% thread that actually had something new posted we haven't heard before?

Just in case you haven't seen one before, 1%er threads go like this (reader's digest version):

what about 1%ers? 1%ers are great, no they're ratbags, no they should be respected, no they shouldn't, well you know nothing, no you know nothing, they are criminals, no they're not, they are misunderstood, oh crap they are, I know one, yeah well so do I, you're a twit, yeah well you're an idiot, abusive PMs sent, one or more members placed on limited access or banned, thread closed.

A week later.

what about 1%ers? 1%ers are great...

I like the smell of fresh bread baking.

I don't like the smell of fresh poop.

Another cult of control someone invented to keep those that followed them inline. Simple as that. Tell people yous gotta do "blah blah" to be a 1%er, they do it, and follow you. Now you have people in your control. Plain and simple.
