It may be humans realize there is no room left in any culture to continue killing each other. You can point at gun control failures around the world to justify not having any but having rules in one place doesn't preclude another place from making the outlawed gun and criminals from sneaking it in.

Standardization and adaption, world wide, of the metric system and anything else shows it can be done to allow free flow of info, technology, health and scientific knowledge. Eventually the world will learn that weapons of all types will need to be put away.

Not by the UN either but by a world wide human rights group with out politics which always screw everything up so far. It will change when the baby boomer's kids are old or gone. No visage of history past to cloud the great grand kid's minds.

In Australia the difference between a nurse and a ladder is not everyone has been up a ladder.
