I'm not much into this holiday either Tripps but I have kids and play the part. I'm always glad when it's over. Today was nice though. The kids all enjoyed their gifts and I got to spend quality time with extended family for awhile. Best thing was the text I just got from my oldest son saying he's home listening to my Waits collection (albums) that I gave him and loving it. It wasn't even a gift really, just something I no longer need that I wanted him to have. It's the little things sometimes that make the day special.
Glad you're feeling better now Mr. Grinch.

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. No gifts. No religion. Just being with family. With Christmas, I don't feel the same

+1, it's about people instead of things.

Now that I'm a giver of said things, instead of a receiver, I prefer Thanksgiving.

But, the kid's were happy today, so that makes it a good one.

I'm not sure the calendar holiday is the basis of the happiness or the discontent.

I do that all year round. What's so special about Xmas? I don't believe in the religious reasons for it, both Christian & Pagan. So why should I have to endure their bad music?

I disagree with the original proposal. I enjoy the holiday.
However, the wife and I live a thousand miles from our families and rarely get back there to be with family at this time of the year. I really miss that.
Also our children are grown and live even farther away. Still we had a great day together.
Now nothing beats Christmas with small children in the house.
What I don't like about this time of year is the lack of daylight. Today the sun rose at about 7:20 am and it will set just before 4 pm. Those of you in the UK know what I'm talking about.

I lean toward the sucks category because the meaning of Christmas is lost. The Christmas commercials all portray men as shallow idiots and women as greedy. If men don't buy women a luxury car or a $10,000 necklace they are worthless.

Besides that 6 years ago my dad died on Christmas Day during our Christmas dinner. If I could skip December, I'd be a lot happier.

Sorry about your loss Kem. There is never a good time to lose your dad.
