A few years ago I brought my old strait skis out of hibernation, ski'd for most of a season, went to get em tuned up, nobody would touch my bindings, since they were so old. Ended up getting an end of season deal on some new Atomic parabolic skis, with integrated bindings. Holy crap, I fell in love. It's a slightly different technique than the old skis, but once you acclimate, they are great fun.
I remember a while back some of the ski racers were slow to convert over to the new tech, they had no choice, since they were getting their clocks cleaned!

This was the latest technology I had when I last strapped on a set of skis.

The ski's I used in the 90's were Dynastar Sport 44 170. Nothing and nobody could touch me on the moguls. Of course my firends would say "Oh I hate moguls they suck."
No YOU suck.

I won a $1,000 pair of skis/boots/bindings at the ski show a couple of years ago from filling out one of those contest slips at a retailer's booth. Just thought I would share that for skiers who think those contests are only to put you on a phone calling list.

My skiing has always been of the non-frozen variety. Started doing that when I was about 5, though I confess I haven't strapped a ski on in years. I did do a little snow skiing in collage, but that was in Indiana, so as you can imagine it wasn't exactly world class.
I've been toying with getting into (snow) skiing with the girlfriend but she's scared she's too un-coordinated to do it. (there is reason to be worried...) We snow shoe a lot in the winter and I enjoy the 'all terrain vehicle' aspect of being able to go anywhere, any time, but even the cross country guys are so much faster than us in anything but the steeper climbs I can't help but look at them with envy.
Maybe I'll talk her into a cross country class this winter. Because it's not like we don't have enough hiking/camping/snow-shoeing/boating/bicycling/motorcycling crap already.

Give Me Rossignol or Give Me Head. I started with Head 360's long skinnies. You reached your arm into the air and the ski hit your wrist and that was your size 210's for me. Now I ride Volkle's that touch the bridge of my nose. If it's a powder day I rent extra fatties. I was good with the skinnies in my 20's to 40's and still good in my 60's with the fatties. Then again I was more a GS guy than a bump guy so my knees are good.
