A few more miles and he would have cooked the engine too! Always remember to tighten the bung on the engine after you change the oil

Had a similar thing happen in my Jag the other day. I was visiting friends, who live down a rugged track of a driveway, when a sharp rock holed my oil filter. Luckily I didn't go far either, & could smell the oil burning off the exhaust, as I got out of the car. So I was onto it straight away, & didn't do any damage. Though the Jag was stuck there for a few days, until I got a replacement filter & oil. But it could have been catastrophic if I'd holed the filter on the way out. & yes, I'll never take my Jag down a driveway like that again.
