My charge nurse has been screaming and whining about this movie since it was first advertised. She's a huge Childs fan, and NOT a Cruise fan. I had to pull her over to look at this thread to show her she wasn't the only one.

Just doesn't have Reachers presence, the man is a legend.
Eastwood when younger might have done the job. Even John Wayne, but as someone else said there's no one out there good enough now.

Seriously, don`t be so "heightist." Jack Reach around is apparently, 6'5" so that leaves Vince Vaughn, 200 year old Christopher Lee or any other actor that is much shorter, to play the part. They picked someone shorter, big deal. Pfft.

We`ve had to put up with some seriously sh!tty casting over the years, Mel Gibson with his comedy Scottish accent in Braveheart, Fatty Zellweger with her appalling English accent in Bridget Jones' Diahrhea, and possibly the worst of all time, Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker in Bram Stoker`s Dracula. "Dude, he`s like, a vampire."

I've seen the previews. I probably would have gone to see it, except that it has Tom Cruise. I just can't see that little wierdo in a hero-type part.

It's not just height its presence, cruise does not have it.
I agree lots of miscasting in films. Studios afraid to take risks on unknowns.
Was hoping for better, at least the hobbit looks good!

Except that the whole "Jack Reacher" thing is some lame , fake ass hero to begin with. He's a fictional character for goodness sake.

Ann Rice was pissed off when she found out that Tom Cruise was going to play Lestadt [sic?], because in her novel he was a tall, strong, handsome blonde guy [Like me ]

I'm certainly no Tom Cruise defender, because he is a weirdo, just like all of the fake ass Hollywood crowd, but in reality it's all just show business.

There was a day years ago when all actors were considered to be the low life scum that they really all are. Remember John Wilkes Booth?

Maybe we will return to those days soon.
