"Reality" shows you like

One of the reasons I jettisoned my television and cancelled my cable service was because I was wasting time watching the lamest crap. But one thing I never watched at all was reality shows. Since the first season of Survivor, I turned away from them and never looked back.

Recently, though, I've been obsessed with catching up on old America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent shows on YouTube. The shows are circuses just like the rest, but the difference is that the occasional real discovery is made.

Here are two acts, only the first of which I like (first two vids). The second one I semi-like because she does a fairly good version of a good song, but mainly because I can listen to that Scottish accent all day long.

Jonathan and Charlotte - Britain's Got Talent - audition

Jonathan and Charlotte - Britain's Got Talent - semi-final

Paige Turley - Britain's Got Talent - audition

Pretty much any "reality" show is right out for me. They seem to be a whole lot more about people posing for the camera and interpersonal spats than any supposed subject the claim to cover.

As for the gong show remakes ... I've never seen any of them aside from the occasional bit when flipping channels. No thanks.

Reality shows? Does Dirty Jobs count? I liked it, though the last season was poor.

Recently I've found myself watching the science channel a lot. I'm still waiting on an explanation of string theory and multiple dimensions dumbed down enough for my feeble mind to grasp...

I used to like watching 'Auction Hunters', until the filmed a couple of episodes here in Hawaii.
While 'between' jobs, I used to do the same thing for a bit of fun and extra cash and was at the auctions that they filmed here.

After watching the episodes on TV that were NOTHING like what actually happened at the auctions, I can honestly say that the show is as far from reality as it can get.

Alaska State Troopers has about everything I could ask for in a TV show. Love that stuff.
