Video Games
Any gamers on here?
I've been blasting my way through Far Cry 3 for the past few days. Not a bad game at all, a few moments of sheer joy. Lots of unscripted happenings, not quite as non-linear as I would have liked, but still pretty good.
Highlight moment: Staking out an enemy outpost. Planting mines on all the access road to take care of any reinforcements that might arrive. Planted c4 charges on the alarm boxes. Found myself a nice ledge overlooking the area, kneel down with my silenced .50 cal, waiting until all the baddies pop into view so I can blow the charges and pick off the most dangerous ones... Just as the last baddie pops into view, a tiger jumps on my back and kills me. Awsome.
What's your favourite game? What are you playing at the moment?

Nah... I outgrew video games some 30 plus years ago.
I hear they've come a long way since I played Atari as a kid.

I never got into gaming. I'm a little to old to have anything beyond a basic Atari 2600 as a kid, and I never picked up the habit later. At this point, the games are so developed I doubt I could even learn them.
I did briefly consider getting a console while I lived on my boat for some of the race sims, hoping they might be a way to learn tracks, but 1) no game is really much of a match for actually driving and 2) I was a little afraid I might actually like it and the last thing I need is another money/time sucking hobby.

Pong....spent more than a few hours playing that on a Radio Shack console with my brother back in the day! Must have been around 1980 I'd guess.

I should hook you up with my grandson. He lives for video games. But he's only 8.

At 55, I just bought an XBOX so I can enjoy car racing games. Not so easy, but the XBOX steering wheel makes things work a bit better. As I progress, my true gamer son, 28 years old, dares to take me on with FORZA and Dirt 3. And my system is hooked up to a 1,000 watt Pioneer 9.1 receiver with 12 surround sound speakers blasting, and it sounds great.

Oooh, nice set-up. Dirt 3 is more fun than Forza, in my opinion. I don't really like driving sims that are TOO realistic, as I'm no good at them and tend to stall a lot. And I can't park.

I'm 55 and a huge Call of Duty/Gears of War/Halo fan, played through a Bose home theater system for added BOOM realism.
Have been considering the new Far Cry myself...thanks for the reminder!

I'm playing through Mass Effect 3 again at the moment. That's a series that deserves to be a movie trilogy, but only if they're going to have someone good directing it...
I also play TF2; playing a Pyro in that game is the best.
