The ONLY game that ever hooked me was PS2's GT3. I can't cope with shot-'em-up games.

I do like the COD games in principle, but have found the last coupe COD, MOH, and Battlefield games to be way too similar. Plus, I don't like multiplayer games (as I'm rubbish at them) and all three of those seem to be mostly about multiplayer, sacrificing a bit of the single-player campaign. They're all good, but just a bit samey, I think!
And yeah, FarCry 3 is the best game I've played in a while, if you like the whole open-world sandboxy type game...

I also play TF2; playing a Pyro in that game is the best.

I agree on ME3. Very good story-line, one of a very few games I played through to the end... Normally I lose interest before that!
I've not played Team Fortress. Like I said, I'm not really keen on multiplayer games. Maybe TF is different, but I've always thought the way games are set up is rubbish. Any time I play multiplayer anything, I get stuck with people who are clearly a million times better than me. Surely the game setup engine could take your rank or experience or something, and let you play with people at a similar level? I've tried COD online, and in the ten or so games I played, I never once even SAW a baddie. But they saw me.....

Not played much lately, have you?
I had a mate who was addicted to GT3. He would play ONE track for literally DAYS, tweaking his car in minute ways, trying to shave a hundredth of a second off his time. Just sat there, for hours and hours, going round that same damn track...
Of course, he was also addicted to valium.

I enjoy the Forza series, I'll play through the single player on shooters like CoD, but don't have the time or dedication for online, and getting cussed out by 12 year olds gets old quick.
The Assassin's Creed series is where it's at though!

Love assassin's creed, but my copy of the latest one died halfway through, and I can't be arsed to re-start. I didn't think the new AC would be nearly as good, didn't think there would be interesting enough places to play in America, but I was well impressed! WooP!

I'm addicted to reality.
Sitting in a restaurant last night, I commented on how many people were being dominated by electronic devices. I was tempted to ask a couple sitting together if they were texting each other. Thumbs were flying. Not a word being spoken.

If you just want entertainment to pass the time OK, but if you're actually looking for realism I wouldn't bother. That was what kept me away from the driving sims. I don't care how good your physics engine is, or how good toy steering wheel is, you'll never get the same effect as actually putting your butt in the seat. I can only imagine bike games would be that much worse.
I recall talking to a young guy a while back about Laguna Seca. He acted as if he had been there and was actually telling me 'tips' for my upcoming track day. Then he confessed he'd never actually been there, only played a game. Somehow I don't think the game is going to give quite the same sphincter-clenching sensation when the crest before the corkscrew unloads your suspension making things want to drift off-line as the potential of writing yourself off does.

...which doesn't really have anything to do with video games, does it?
I'm not sure why people (not necessarily you...) who are critical of video games are quite happy watching DVD's, television, and reading trashy books. I've played games where the story is better than most movies, where it sparks the imagination as well as the best books, and where the characters are more lovable, horrible, funny, kind, human than any T.V. show.
I'd much rather sit down to two hours of Minecraft than to two hours of the latest crap Hollywood blockbuster.

That's why you need one of these:
http://gamingweapons.com/dbox-gpl200-gaming-chair/
Plus, someone to hit you in the face with a brick every time you crash, for that added realism.
But no, games can't match reality for things you can actually DO in reality, but the chances of me piloting a space-ship, building a castle out of dirt that I mined, taking back a tropical island from a despot, or flying an apache helicopter into a volcano are slim to none. So until I can do those in RL, I'll have to be satisfied with games.
