Amazing isn't it bonnieblack? Topic was running along the lines of 1st Amendment and 2nd Amendment rights and then a twist...I just consider the source of the twist and move on down the road...just sayin.

You two sniping at each other is tiresome though. Don't ruin a good thing, this thread is yet to peak.

I agree...but I felt it needed to be addressed and I'm done after I felt my point was made. Thanks for your input...point well taken.

the Amendments (not an Amish punk band) are there to preserve the freedom of ALL citizens. and they are all interdependent. To use your favorite amendment to reduce the power of another you dont happen to use or appreciate is self defeating, short sighted, etc. etc.

I wouldn't worry, it's most likely a bolt action rifle (of very high quality; all hyperbole aside, congratulations)so it should be fairly trustworthy. It's those semi-auto guns you have to look out for; according to some, they kill people 'deader' than other types.

FWIW, if it had been Ted Nugent arguing the other side of the issue, I'd have accorded him the same lack of credibility that the sportscaster got, .......None. Uncle Ted doesn't speak for me; he needs to stick to playing rock-and-roll guitar. The sportscaster needs to stick to sportscasting. If I want to listen to some idiot's impromptu Op-Ed piece, I can find plenty of those. .........James.

I don't think your freedom depends on guns. Canadians, Brits, Scandinavians, the French, Germans, all just as free, but without guns. Guns for defence, I understand (though disagree with), guns as the only way to preserve freedom, sorry, I think that's absurd...

I know you do, and do not think less of you for it.
I'm sure if someone tried to explain to me why 11 dimensions, or asexual reproduction, or the metaphysical properties of quartz (or any of a thousand things that Im not qualified to make an opinion statement on) make perfect sense to them, It would seem equally absurd to me.
But, generally, I work with the attitude that the entirety of my knowledge is not the entirety of all knowledge and try to keep my stupidity behind my teeth.

most of the time.

But, what recourse will you have if 'Big Brother' decides to take your freedom/rights away? If history has taught us one thing; an unarmed populace is easier to control/disenfranchise. Our Second Amendment was adopted after a long, hard struggle for our independence. The collective histories of the countries that you named are different and thus had different results. ......James.
