Yep, it's a lot easier to follow the threads that have pictures.

What if they were your kids. I don't think execution has been listed in any states as the punishment for B&E.

Getting killed for what was probably going to be simple burglary is indeed harsh punishment. But so is dying in a car crash for having a few too many drinks, or being electrocuted while trying to bypass the power meter, getting mauled by a zoo bear for trying to get a 'better pic', whatever.
They,at some point, figured that whatever they were after was worth the risk they were taking.
No tears

No, no, it's getting mauled by a zoo tiger because you were baiting it. And it was totally worth it since they then sued the city and won.
(those outside the San Francisco area likely won't remember this, and it's not really worth adding a link for since it would only PO most of us)

One thing for sure. If you accidentally kick your footy into that blokes back yard, you don't climb over his fence to get it back. You buy a new footy.

Criminals who do home invasions sometimes go to the nice neighborhoods where the loot is worth more. So, if you think living in a nice neighborhood is going to save you then you are taking a big risk. I live in a very nice neighborhood where the crime rate is very low. But we still get some break ins. You live within driving distance from some of the highest crime areas in the country.

That's not quite the same situation. The bear doesn't have "zoo" laws that say you can't bite off the foot of intruders. Certainly, home owners should be expected to react on a level above their primal instincts. I've got to agree though, these teens were taking a huge risk. It probably never dawned on them that they could shot and killed. That said, there were some teens that broke into a local zoo a few years ago, and clubbed an adult Polar Bear to death. There's no understanding an 18 year old brain.

Animal cruelty aside that's quite an impressive feat.
