Bettman can go to hell. His money and greed driven vision of the NHL has ruined the game. That's right folks, it is a GAME. The players can screw themselves too. Making millions upon millions per year to play a bloody game.
Watched a KIJHL game last night and those kids put a hell of a show on. Cost me $8 to get in. I'd rather watch people passionate about what they're doing than a bunch of spoiled rich feces dispensers skate around to collect more for one game than most honest hard working people do in a year.

I must say my interest in the NHL is waning. I still like hockey but I'm enjoying the "extra" time I now have since I'm not in front of the TV for two-to-three hours three nights a week.
I've been watching more college hockey and while it's a lot sloppier, it's still fun to watch. Watching the KHL games have been good, too.
Frankly, the NHL has been the most consistently moronic of all the major sports leagues. Every time they are in the position to advance, they shoot themselves in the foot.
NHL hockey could've exploded in the 70s but it instead became a garage league of goons that caused a split and the creation of the WHL. It again could've exploded during the Gretzky/Lemieux years but the 1994 lockout ruined that and the player-focused CBA lead to the dead puck era. The post-2005 lockout years have been some of the best for the league and then this lockout has killed that.
Hockey should be huge in the U.S. When played right, it's a fast and exciting game. It will never grow in this country if both sides turn into children every time the contract expires.

It ain't just the NHL Lefty it is all major sports, be it baeball, football, NASCAR etc. The money is more important than the game. They drag out the play offs, they are almost always "Cinderella" finishes to a truly exciting season. I mean Dale Jr. winning Daytona 500 the year after his Dad was killed? Bunch of pre-determined crap. They manufacture the stars and in the aftermath kill the passion. want to see passion? Go to the minor league games or local race tracks.

So now we are talking about the NHL and not cafe racers?
I have some good and bad news. I made up my mind to get the Street Triple and then buy a Thruxton after I pay off the first bike. Unfortunately I test rode with my girlfriend on the back and she HATED it. So I'm going to get the Thruxton first just so we can ride more comfortably together. She's not against Triumphs at all, she actually decided that she wants a Scrambler instead of a Sportster for her first bike

Is she a Stars fan? I kind of like the Stars, though it was weird seeing Mike Modano in a Red Wings jersey.

A Thrux is a great 2 up bike.
Not strange for Modano, more like a dream come true.

I've been reading the back story of all these hockey shenanigans and all I can say is ***.
No wonder you guys usually hate unions or corporations, I don't think you've ever heard of a middle ground. There either seems to be all powerful unions controlling things in some industry or no union at all in others, craziness. Or maybe we just don't hear about the functional relationships.
Either way it sounds like the NHL needs to sit down and hammer out a proper long term system that doesn't involve holidays every ten years.

Neither of us give a krap about hockey. I'm into extreme sports like skydiving, free climbing, snowboarding, and shooting competitions. You know, sports that take two balls to play!
