Beer

I did a quick search and after four pages of results, I couldn't find a thread about the malty goodness that is the source of life and inebriation worldwide.

So, dark, light? Porter, lager, ale? Stout or diet? What fills your glass? Canned, bottled? Frozen glass, or room temp?

Do you make it or buy it?

Many things to discuss about the Theobroma. So, have at it.

Oh, and since I am drinking my second beautiful dark black gift from heaven above, CHEERS!

I usually drink bitter

When I visit the US I move to pale ale - you have some excellent micro breweries over there - well done

My system usually is to scan the menu looking for anything from Germany and expand from there. Wiess or wheat bears for me usually. Unfiltered.

Our local microbrew here is Firestone Walker Brewing. An excellent oatmeal stout (Velvet Merkin) and my favorite beer (Double Barrel Ale). I suggest stopping by the brewery or The Taproom, their restaurant, in Paso Robles if you're ever in the area.

Salsa, I spent 4 years at Ft. Hunter Liggett back in the 80's. I remember when the SLO Brewing Company opened up. The guys weren't quite open to the public yet, but I walked by their building one night and they were working on some equipment and I struck up a conversation. They had some homebrewed samples and I tried one. From there, there was no turning back for me!

Here's my rig:

I'll drink just about any style not called light. By the way porters are an ale. Most of what I drink comes in a bottle although there are a few exceptions.

Only something that you don't want to actually taste should be served in a frozen glass (Bud, Miller, Coors, Labatts, etc.).

Yes, there are really 2 basic beers; Lagers and Ales, which are distinguished by the type of yeast used. One is a top-feeding yeast, the other feeds from the bottom. Also, Lagers ferment and a lower temperature range.

As far as the Kegerator goes; That's awesome! Looking to incorporate such things into my basement. Also, for anyone interested, Woot.com and Midnightbox.com both have something similar on sale today! These are "deal-a-day" sites, so if you are interested, you have until midnight Central to get it done!

What do I drink? I brew my own as well as enjoy the craft beer of some breweries.

My favorite homebrew so far is something I call the Coco Man. It's like a cocoa porter with a little bite. We have a pumpkin ale in secondary right now.

One of my favorite all-around beers is Samuel Smiths Old Brewery Pale Ale. I could go on and on about what I like...
