Marmite
I bought some on Wednesday. I like it. I have had it on toast and crackers. I have even put some on a piece of pot roast I had.
The guy at the grocery store I bought it at asked if I had grown up on it. I don't know that I have had it before, but it tasted familiar. Still, it's some fairly tasty tar.
Cheers.

This could get ugly. Vegemite vs. Marmite debate begins in 3.. 2.. 1..

Meh, just mix them together and be done with it. Call it VegeMar. I looked for Vegemite, but there was none to be had.

It's good stuff. I usually stick to putting it on toast though, although in desperation it's gone in sandwiches before, with a bit of cheese if theres any left.

That brings up a question. As I am a tar newbie, how best to have it? On toast, I know that, but any particular bread? With or without butter first? Since I merely an American when it comes to the two "Mites, I am curious about to eat it.

I have it with butter (just a nice thin layer) but I'm not sure what bread matters, whichever one you like really.

I`m from the UK and I used to love Marmite, when I lived there. I was brought up on a diet of Marmite. Breakfast every day, was a soft boiled egg with toasty soldiers spread with butter and Marmite. Toasty soldiers, for those not from the UK, is toast cut into thin fingers which you could dip into your soft boiled egg.
I live in Australia now, and whilst you CAN get Marmite here, I prefer Vegemite, the taste is less harsh.

Vegemite is more of an Aussie thing I think.
I prefer Marmite
Its good for sticking in stews and the like.
Marmite flavour crisps (chips) are nice.
Its also a by product of the brewing industry(or used to be) so it can't be bad for you

I forgot, I also pop it on crumpets occasionally (with butter).
