CNN ranks London "World's Greatest City"
In this report CNN lists 50 reasons why London is the most popular city on the planet
I especially enjoyed reason 49. Heart attacks and angioplasty not necessarily frowned upon
It’s comforting to know that there will always be at least one corner of the world where “heart-healthy omelets” and Mongolian wheatgrass shakes are rightly considered culinary atrocities.
Inside London’s greasy spoon cafés, you can ask for calories with a side of saturated fat and hold the guilt, please.

I lived there for 10 years, it was most enjoyable. There are downsides of course, like not being able to leave your motorbike parked anywhere for a couple of hours, without armed security guards watching it. But overall, I liked it.

Slow Pocono try other British Cities. So many people go to London and say that's it I've been to Britain. Trust me London is a country all on its own. Its borders are the M25. Most of its Inhabitants are either rich gangsters or foreign. To realy see Britain in one short trip go to Birmingham or Manchester or Newcastle or Leeds or Liverpool or some such place. Of those Manchester or Birmingham are probably best. Great Museums, great culture, good shopping. Brum has the added advantage that if you want a Motorcycling theme its where nearly every British bike was built. And Coventry where Triumph was built is just down the road. Forget London. You Americans Know all about it already. Would you expect a Brit to go to NY and say "yep been to the USA" ?

Nick makes a good point.
I'd like to visit London just to say I was there but I'd be more interested in seeing England as a whole.
And, really, let the tourists congregate in the big cities. That leaves the real good places for the rest of us.

I agree with Nick for the most part, but I lived in London for four years, and didn't even see a fraction of a percent of it. I still go back every couple months just to explore part of it I haven't seen before....
And, don't go to Brum. It's a ****hole, no matter how many bikes were made there...

Cheeky sod. When's the last time you were here?
Its a hidden Gem. So many people say "oh oh its a ****hole" but we have a class museum, class night life, ballet theatre, opera, cinema one of which is the oldest working cinema in the country, The National Motorcycle museum, The Black Country industrial Museum museum, Brilliant restaurants and were on the doorstep of the Cotswolds, The Peak district, Wales and the borders, Warwickshire. Ironbridge Gorge world heritage site, Cosford RAF and Cold war Museum. Its a great place to base yourself for an all round trip and get a sense of Modern Britain and what made it. Plus if you're remotely interested in how the modern world started the Midlands are where it all began.
So ****hole is a bit wide of the mark.

I wouldn't mind visiting other British cites. 3 years ago in July, I spent the night in London since I had to airport hop. It was cool & drizzling (well, cold to a Floridian). I can't say I was very impressed with London for my one sample.

Me too. Sent my daughter there...she said they are all driving on the wrong side of the street. I told her that I knew that and it was the real reason her cousins jumped on the Mayflower in the first place.
