Do want this. I think it would look killer with a different paint job, some clubman bars and a different seat. They did a good job with keeping the classic look of the old CB's but I wish they would have cut some of the weight and upped the power a bit...80hp out of 1140cc's isn't too impressive.

80 hp with 1140cc's. it will be another flop.
Honda had a feat idea with the 919 too and it failed because of power and the competition was a FZ1 w/ 140 hp.

Hap I have been one of the biggest fans of the Rocket III. I had posted over and over again asking why can't Triumph maximize the Rocket's platform to it's full potential as a touring bike. I mean the version that came out took minimal effort and yielded minimal result. It drove me to a bike that was set up for long distance and long duration riding. While I have done these rides on the Rocket it was not as pleasurable. The touring Rocket looked like a HD wanna be....I would take the Rocket over any two cyclinder bike out there...I love it's raw power...but as a touring bike it is lacking. jmop

The styling reminds me of the early 1970's Hondas. I had a 1971 Honda cl450. That was my first bike, bought new at a dealer in Berkley, Ca.

This isn't a 919...this is a relaxed, low state of tune, air cooled "new nostalgia" bike with similar specs to the "fearsome" Z-1 900 that spit on the original CB 750. By comparison, the late 90's CBR 919 had around the same power as my Speed Triple (with a little less weight) when it was a top tier sportbike. While those numbers won't strike fear in the heart of a BMW 1000 RR rider these days, it doesn't make for any less of an entertaining ride. By the same token, I'm betting the CB1100 will be exactly what a motorcycle is all about for guys of a certain age, and 80 hp with a broad, friendly torque curve ( and I'll bet some hop-up potential ) is plenty.
Impressive spec? No. Relaxed and fun? Like a big puppy.

Don't start getting all "rational" and "real-world" on us, okay?

I will be so glad when that bike hits the dealership floors. Maybe the hundred or so souls who really do buy one will then quit being so vocal about how cool it is going to be and start writing about how hum drum it is in real life.
