There needs to be enough power to run the fuel injection and push starting by one's self invites a low speed. simple, basic, flop over fall. Real tears on a brand new bike.

Otherwise, push starting is a very useful procedure / test.

Sounds like a dead battery. Hopefully charging it will do the trick. If you jump it, just idling it really won't charge it, and I wouldn't suggest doing that for more than a few minutes anyway. If it starts from a jump, take it for a good ride. Invest in a good battery tender. The Battery Tender Plus uses a higher charge than the plain Battery Tender. If possible, leave it on the tender whenever you're not riding it. Batteries do last longer tat way...(point #1-I don't necessarily practice what I preach).

I thought they said they had power when they turned the key on and it didnt crank...or at least thats what I got from it...if thats the case then they should have enough juice for the injectors...yes?...

...and yes it would suck to drop your brand new bike on your first ride...I should know...my wife dropped hers... (it was to avoid hitting my friends 1967 Bonneville so well give her a pass on that one)...but they would have to try push starting it if they were out in BFE and it didnt start...right right?...

If they are afraid they would drop the bike doing it themself they have to have a friend or neighbor that could help push it...

...anyway...good luck...and I hope you get out of the drive today...

So what was it...and what did it take to get it going?


I was going to ride today...its up to 66 degrees out...but there is a wind advisory out...were getting gusts up to 45-50mph...good thing I raked and cleaned the yard yesterday...when it was 70 degrees sunny and little or no wind...this blows...

...blows...get it...
