Bol, all those countries are still over 90% white Christian/athiest(you know what I mean). It's really not as big an issue as its made out unless you happen to live right in the middle of a large group.
I do agree that killing him is probably not the answer though.

Boldor,
I'm generally with you. I think it's important to point out we're not talking about excusing him, we're talking about figuring out causes that pushed him in that direction -- in order to try to find and stop the next one from happening.

Agreed.
If this poor chap is suffering so, the humane thing to do it end it for him. Just as you would put a sick dog to sleep.
Anyone capable of killing 77 people is not going to be fixed or understood. It'll probably all be blamed on strict toilet training or too much violence on TV. If you think certain criminals can be rehabilitated then I'm sure you wouldn't mind sexual criminals minding your wife or children while you're our on a ride. As part of their rehabilitation of course.

Looks to me like he did what a lot of people secretly dream of doing, but will never admit to it.
There are plenty of people I would like to shoot.

I wonder how long a thread called a "List of people that need shooting" would last?
Must try it one day.

I like that. It would be good to know where I am on the list.

Sorry PopPop, I seem to have overlooked you, an oversight on my part, I apologise.
I think I can squeeze you in just between the people who drive in the left lane at below the speed limit, and people with mobile phones in cinemas.
If this is inconvenient, you will have to wait until I finish with the people who make really loud television commercials... again, I apologise.

I must add, I once passed a school bus that was stopped in the road, if that helps.
But, it's not about me, I guess. I make decisions about what laws I obey and which ones I break, based partly on my perceptions of the consequences and whether or not I will be caught. And, partly on my interest in just being a good citizen. In short, i respond to treatment.
Here in my home town we just had someone kill 7 people in his work place after being fired from his job. He then took his own life and got the attention he wanted. People who are criminally insane act out of personal need and capital punishment won't deter there their behavior. It only provides an outlet for our own outrage and is nothing more than our own vengance. Whether this guy is executed or imprisoned untill he dies matters little to me and I can ignore his whining, I learned to do that when raising teen agers.
There is a level of sociopathy that is chaos in the world and it's going to exist regardless of what we do. Laws won't prevent it, prisons won't prevent it, bullets won't prevent it.
Keep this guy and his like locked up for life, at least then we can limit the amount of blood we have to mop up to that which is spilled by the next nut job.

I suggest a large ball pean hammer..it is relatively inexpensive. It has a multitude of uses besides being used for mechanics. It can be used very well in crushing metacarpals and carpals one at a time slowly. It also works just as well on Knee caps! When the task at hand is done after afew days a slow hard rap to the skull finishes the job.
I for one would be more than glad to bring one there, pay for the air fair and complete the task for them....it is terminating a parasite and therefore it benefits society....
Freaking piece of garbage...give me a break ...you see what happens when you don't take care of the scum of society.... Even better four horse and rope to each limb ...gitty up...
Pop agreed but instead of just locked up label them a child molester as well and put them in general poipulation...it will be self correcting in days...

This is one of the better stated arguments in favor of the death penalty.
In most of post-war Europe, that boat sailed a long time ago. And as time goes on we're going to see less of it over here; for better or worse. As long as they keep the SOB off the street, justice is still served.
Let me pose a rhetorical question; how many of us who advocate for the death penalty would have the stomach to render the coup-de-gras? Keep in mind that the condemned is bound, helpless, crying, and sometimes soiling/wetting himself; a real horror show. What would this indicate about an individual who volunteered for the duty twice? Food for thought. .................James.
