These may not be your style, but I wear them for commuting/all day at the office or when just putt-putting around:
They are far better than your CT's. You said in an earlier post that the Lacostes didn't protect your ankle, implying that the CT's do somehow. I have news for you - they don't. If you doubt me, put them on and give your ankle bone the most gentle tap with a hammer.
For more serious riding I have these:
TCX S Race. I like TCX, because I have a wide foot, and they seem to fit me better than other brands. If your foot is less like a duck's than mine, your choices are much greater.
My real point, as was mentioned earlier, is you CAN find much better choices than CT's for riding for not that much more than you paid for them. The second part of my point is my less protective boots still get worn frequently. I didn't immediately consign the Cubes to the back of the closet, when I got the Races.
It's possible I'm just a marketer's dream, though; I wear golf shoes when I play golf, rugby boots when I play rugby, and motorcycle boots when I, well...you get the picture. I'm just much too fond of walking to trust the integrity of my feet to my riding abilities.
