Takes a few days (as some boots do) before you can spend all day on your feet in them without grumping. They are NOT built for standing all day on concrete or some similar. The sole is a tad too thin, and the heel is cut a little too far forward for that. I know a guy that says he wears his all day on concrete...but that might be the pints talking.
For a 'custom fit' over the calf boot, they aint half bad.

XTC's Gortex touring boot looks very similar. Completely waterproof, warm enough for sub-zero riding without extra socks, offers all the crash protection that you could reasonably want and mine have lasted 5 years and 50K miles so far.

A very timely thread, as my Diadora's gave up the ghost (split zipper, torn flap) last week. After a fair amount of research on the internet, and combined with what's locally available, I found 2 pairs that I liked that were actually in stock at local dealers -- BMW's Goretex boots ($239) and AlpineStars Web Goretex($249). I opted for the AlpineStars. They're all leather, Goretex inner shell, and have fold-over flaps. They're a bit stiff right now (only have worn them twice so far), but they're comfortable, fit my fat feet, and have all the features I was looking for.
Maybe they'll last longer than the 5 years/35k miles I put on the Diadoras.

As I went to ride with them the other day and couldn't change gear!! I also need to increase the distance of my gear lever. They have been comfortable from the moment I've used them. I paid about £80 quid extra on top of the list price to get them custom made, fat calves!!

Hey, I don't ride a bike to look sexy. I ride it for to get better and better at what I enjoy, not to mention faster
