Weird lump in hand
A couple of weeks ago I noticed my hand hurt pretty bad when I picked something up. Nothing visible but after feeling it I realized there is a small painful lump in it. Not only is it still there, but I think it might be bigger. It is pea sized, very hard and doesn't move around. I think it's attached to the bone that goes to my middle finger. I can feel it from the palm side about half an inch below my finger. It doesn't hurt that bad unless it is touching something.
Any ideas of what it might be?

Calcium deposits are on my hand and finger bones left hand only. Just don't forget them and or pretend they are not there. Could be something else that is not supposed to be there.

I noticed a lump in my hand this morning too.
But seriously Roxy, your news is not good. Here is my educated but remote diagnosis.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002213/
Must open link guys (That means you HAP - learn to open links.) - this is what I reckon it is - seriously - Dupuytren’s contracture. It is treated with surgery.

It coiuld be a calcium deposit, lipoma, cyst...but what you need to do is go see your Doctor to see what he thinks it is...
Sooner the better.
Age. Dupuytren's contracture occurs most commonly after the age of 50.
Your sex. Men are more likely to develop Dupuytren's and to have more severe contractures than are women.
Ancestry. People of Northern European descent are at higher risk of the disease.
Family history. Dupuytren's contracture often runs in families
Lets not go crazy with assumptions and off the wall diagnosis....it could be many things ...many of which can be simple to fix...see your doctor.

Great diagnosis Doc. But I am not sure Roxy had that kind of lump in her hand.

I'm not a doctor...
(but I play one with my wife)...
Do you suppose it could be a Ganglion cyst?
I've only seen them on wrists, but understand they can appear on toes, fingers, etc when a tendon gets inflamed.
Maybe one of the medical folks on here could lend some insight.
I hope you didn't overdo it loading all of that hay..
Have you tried ice?

Yeah, I will go to the doctor. But, I asked here just in case someone else had this happen and give me an idea.
The grandmother who had the contracture thing was Italian actually, but half of me is German.
It hurts right now but yet I was able to handle all that hay because you hold the twine with your fingers instead of your palm. But, holding my throttle or steering wheel will cause me a lot of pain.
It just seemed like it appeared overnight and not for any good reason.

I'm thinking not because those are generally visible. I have a bone in my right wrist that moved a few years ago and my nurse friend thought that was a ganglion so I have read quite a bit about those. I don't think this is a ganglion.
I've had it for a couple of weeks now. I had it before the hay. I have not fallen down or dropped something on it.
