For those of us in Northern climes, I just thought I'd share this photograph as I am now well and truly in winter in the UK. Petrol is a crazy price and the weather is awful. But look on the bright side even though on the South coast of England, it is dark, it is damp, it is cold and living in this country is like living in a WASHING MACHINE

I could be on this baby and the sun is shining and gas is $3 per gallon (thats cheap compared to the UK at $10 per gallon).....I want to be in the desert.....

For the short time i lived in Scotland and digging my car out of the snow each day i too longed for the warm climes of home.

When I last lived in the UK, I was a motorbike courier in London and I rode all year round. In the worst weather the controllers tried to keep the bikes inside the 'codes' but the outer codes were still freezing and you`d often need to go into residential streets where they hadn`t gritted, hit black ice and fell off.

Drinking half a cup of tea in that weather, feels like 8 pints of beer and your bladder starts hurting soon afterwards. After 10 hours on a bike in those temperatures, its no good trying to sit by the fire to warm up, it won`t happen. You HAVE to spend 30 mins in a hot bath, just to get back to normal. Every bone you have ever broken screams with arthritic pain and kidney chills can be shocking.

Now I ride comfortably, 365 days a year. Don`t miss it and I`ll never go back to it!

At the end of the day, I can think of lovely summer and spring days and just dream.

At least when I work on my Triumph in the garage my friend tags along to help....

Spring of 2011 in the Arizona desert. It was a great ride out from NH. Huge contrast to my current weather (in Virginia waiting for Hurricane Sandy to hit).
