Score! Been looking for a scooter for a few months and just picked this up for next to nothing. No title, key or paperwork or any kind but it has spark and good plastic, that's worth the money right there. Not sure of the year but it's a Honda Elite 150 so it can only be one of four years that they made them. If I can't get it running I can easily make money on the plastic and parts. 3K miles, only problem with the plastic is a scratch on the front fender and a broken turn signal which can be repaired. This the very cool, flip up headlight model. It'll be coming in the house tomorrow so I can work on it at my leisure.
I'm not worried about the lack of paperwork unless it turns out stolen. I can register it and get a title in either VT or NH not sure which but it's easy enough from what I've read.
The used exhaust will sell on eBay for more than I paid so if I can't get it running it'll be parted out. I hope I can get it running though. Sounds like it could be as simple to fix as a cheap CDI unit from what I've read online today.
This has nothing to do with the scoot but since I have the thread going I'll talk about it here. I'd bought Happy Trail panniers last winter for the DR when they were on sale but they were too big and cumbersome for that bike really. They fit well but off road were sort of a leg hazard. So I tried the racks on the Tiger and they were sort of close to fitting. Made some extension fittings at work and got the racks to fit and really liked them much better on the Tiger but they can still be used on either bike. The silver just didn't look right on the W&B Tiger so I got the bracket fittings powder coated at work a few weeks ago, figured I'd do the cans as well. I'm thrilled with the way they turned out.
Old color...
and new McIntosh black...
Old color on the Tiger...
Got a better shot today
I'll shoot it in daylite tomorrow. They look awesome and only cost a case of Yuengling. How can you beat that?
I think they would since the Sprint and Tiger use the same bags.
I get double the storage from the larger OEM bag with these. All my camping gear including chair and ground cloth fit into one pannier!!!!. No, they would look hideous on a Sprint Bill but not so much on the Tiger. You can't have them.
Rode it about 60 miles bringing it home and other than a week battery it ran like a champ. 60mph+ most of the way home with a top speed on the flat of 65mph (indicated). Very happy with it but the seat is not very comfy and the Honda actually has a better suspension I think...go figure. But I'll be making this my main scoot if the Honda does indeed sell. The phone isn't exactly ringing off the hook.
No doubt. It's almost too pretty for me. Maybe I'll steal the DeWalt case off the Honda to "tone it down" a bit. Maybe a few stickers, scratches and broken parts hanging off would help. But it got attention when I passed cars and trucks on the way home, that was very cool.:motorbike2
You know what they say...Going fast on a slow bike... Lot's of fun in a small 150cc package. I'm pretty sure it'll top 70 down a long grade.
Not sure Dave. The rugged case would take away from the plasti-chrome bar covers and other plasti-chrome parts I'm thinking. Maybe Harley makes an all chrome topcase????:dunno I'll have to give some thought to what topcase gets final approval but I'll probably lean towards the cheapest like I have on the DR. I'll need a backrest on the case since I'll obviously have a bunch of very hot women wanting a ride on this scoot.
Ya know...I tried on a few 3/4 helmets just because it seemed appropriate for scootin. I never felt so naked in my life. I'll be sticking with a full face.
I didn't notice that, yes it is. Now both of my scoots are the ride of choice by celebrities. How awesome is that? Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Ride. When last I read of the "maybe" new girl in the garage, the 30 year old Honda basket case was going bye bye. I now see that you are a real motorcycle/scooter person who simply can not let any of them go.
My hat is off to you but be prepared to share the girls in the garage when way ward BHO buddies just show up. Make em all ride the Honda though and keep that Italian beauty safe from drool.
Hap, sorry to say the Honda is in the front yard with a for sale sign stuck on her. Apparently the funky appeal of the Elite isn't for everyone, only had a few calls since posting it last Saturday.
I'm gonna need a bigger garage.
Aren't you a bachelor? What do you use the dining room for now? Extra bedroom? Prop even had one in his kitchen I believe. Man, you have to quit whining and start looking for other babies to fill the empty house with.
Dining room? Now what would I have one of those for HAP? Entertaining???:rofl I have a spare room but that means wheeling up on the porch, through the living room and into the spare room. Might as well sell it it's going to be that hard to get out.
I need to get out to Cleveland to visit my cousin. He's got a collection of vintage British bikes and some interesting scoots. Here's a few pics I stole off his FB page.
If I should decide to keep the Honda over the Aprilia...do you guys think a "Get Back Whip" would look silly on it? I should be able to scowl more with one on although I'd imagine it'll be tough wiping that silly grin off my face.
This one is almost the right color. Of course I'd add burgundy sparkly tassels so I didn't look like a complete idiot.
God, I am so out of the main stream any more. Could some one tell me the function of a "get back whip"? Why would you have that thing slapping you whilst whipping about in the wind? Does that mean guys with those danglies don't ride fast enough to get whipped or is that a ritual to endure if you want to ride said cruiser?
It's fairly simple HAP. They get them for Xmas along with chrome parts to stick on the new Harley. I'm assuming the whip goes into their stocking. They attach it to the front brake lever. When it gets tangled with moving parts on the bike and tosses them off the bike they can explain why you should never touch that front brake lever.
Do I have to splain everything to you????
The Honda is gone, just loaded it into the new owners truck. Got $800 for it which was good. Took it out for a long ride today while my friend Bernadette rode my Aprilia. I won't miss the Honda but it was a pretty cool ride.
