I thought the scratch was part of the sticker.

Gave my 13 year old son his first lesson on the scoot Saturday...
Also let my 23 year old take it for a spin, he wants it now. Did a quick run down the street with my 5 year old grandson as well. They all loved it.

That, right there, is worth all of the cost involved. Everything else is gravy.
Nice work!

Thanks. My ex is dead set against them riding so I let him talk her into letting him ride it. I don't get involved in drama anymore.
The hook is set and he'll be looking at motorbikes differently from here on out I think.

And now your grandson is cruising the parking lot asking "Grandpa, where are all the hot Biker Chicks??? Son probably asked the same....
Get them started young...good to see that he is geared up, too. Bet it keeps Momma happy....

Been awhile since I posted on the scoot. Not for lack of working on it, just not much to report. Got it registered in NY this past weekend and the paperwork was all good so the VT thing works if you want to by an old <300cc bike that's 15+ years old with no paperwork. No hassle, easy peasy, cost $84 in VT and another $80 in NY, NY will issue me a title.
As for the scoot. There's been this niggly squeal in the drive unit I've been trying to figure out. Thought it might be a bearing but that wasn't it. In the process I discovered the drive shaft is slightly bent. I can pick one up off ebay for $30 but I'm not sure that's where the noise is coming from. Simple enough drive to tear apart but I've already spent some time and a few bucks and am considering just waiting till the title shows up and putting it on CL as is. It runs great and if you wear earplugs the squeak isn't a big deal. It's fun to ride and has it's own flare but I'm not sure if I'd really ride it that much and I've got the other two bikes to service before warm weather rolls around. I'm gonna let it sit for a few days I think. I could probably get $700 once the title comes which would pay me for my time and parts. My kids will be p!ssed if I sell it though...

Been awhile since I messed with the scoot and as you probably don't remember I left off with a squeak in the drivetrain. The axle seems to be bent or have a bad bearing. So tonight I bought beer and headed to the garage. Just wanted to remove the clutch and gears and see what's going on in there. Spent 3 hours trying to get the nut off the clutch so I could remove it...it's still tight as a schoolgirl. Heated it, used lube and even bought an el cheapo impact wrench at HF, no love...none at all. That scoot is going to be the end of me I tells ya. I just want to find the problem, fix it, and ride the crap outta it. Is that so much to ask?
