Biathalon still exists, there is a strong movement to remove the firearms and swap them with some sort of laser pointer device. I think the criticisms came from Europe, the argument being that the laser pointer would still be a test of accuracy - which is the point of the competion in the end.

Personally, I'm disappointed that they aren't using the 7.62s that they started with. A .22 is a long way aways from a 7.62.

I don't actually know how far this push to go to laser pointers has gone - may not have gone anywhere.

The majority of Aussies would be outraged at the Olympic Committee's PC gone mad attitude, as we're sick & tired of being told what's an acceptable standard of behaviour. They broke no laws. They harmed no one. & were having a bit of fun, on their own time. The AOC should pull their bloody head in! I'm ashamed to be an Aussie (& I support our gun laws)
