Whilst the great American adventure is not quit at an end for the Dog, it is drawing near. I can not speak for either Dog nor the Jonkster as to their thoughts and feelings about coming here to America to ride but I can tell you how it has impacted those I know who have met them.
Not trying to be grandiose here but I will start by saying I knew in my heart that we, the American average Joes, were not at all as the foreign media portrayed us. Fat, lazy, selfish, unfeeling, killers with no feelings for the dead and absolutely unable to accept any other country's culture, humor and foibles. In short we were thought of (most non bike riding foreign folk still believe this to be true) as being to self centered to share, to narrow minded to accept and way to mean to welcome in any one we didn't know.
Before this adventure started, almost 3 years ago with Dog sending me a blistering PM about some slight he thought I might have made, (can you imagine that?) I had been a lurker only, for a couple years here, but after what the other Triumph forum had become I was drawn to the continuity of this place. I had never met any member but had started drawing up mental images of who, what, why they might be like. The mere fact that members cared about the injuries, bike loss or bad experience a member might have, others jumped in to offer prayers, well wishes and support. If a member had a bike problem, experts with years of experience jumped in to share info and help repair or at least find the cause of the problem.
For those who have had the pleasure of meeting, eating, drinking, riding with both Dog and Jonk you will know what I mean when I say they just seemed to fit, to be one of the bike riding folk, to be---a normal human? Our kids welcomed my foreign friends as if they were from across town, the grand kids still ask about them weekly, my brother and my dear friend welcomed them into their homes with out question and with out me asking and my memories of rides, meals, stories and places visited with them both will last me till I die. After having rambled on here I will close by saying I believe, truly believe that ever one who has met either Auzzi will forever remember them, think of their times with them, roads ridden, food eaten (some of their food was fungus I am sure) and fondly wish them back again.
The hundred or so who met the duo, the other hundreds who have followed their adventures here will all remember them and the times had and may very well reach out to other folk from different places to come here and meet us. I hope that.
Whilst our politics may pi$$ some off, our perceived lack of knowledge of any kind, weird habits and beliefs may offend, the actual meeting and riding together erases those petty thoughts. I hope that all who live and ride in other countries get a chance to come and visit here whether for a week or a year. We are not the a$$holes you were taught to believe we were. We are not unfeeling, uncaring, unkind fiends of capitalistic consumerism sucking the blood from the poor. We are the poor, we are the workers, consumers, retired, old, young, sick and healthy, we are just normal humans who love motorcycles and riding.
We, the lady I share this life with and our families and friends, would not hesitate to be involved with another adventure. As I did for both Dog and Jonkster, I will hid the guns, muzzle the killer dogs and take all the neocon reading material to the back room, hide the trucker stickers of anti anything from view, wash my red neck, put out of site all the opulent goodies collected via sucking life from the little guy and I will let the oppressed yard workers and other seekers of life, liberty and happiness out for the duration of your visit. I am not alone in believing this, I am not the only one to say "come on over". Nor will I be the last. With that having been said I am done posting with this wonderful story and has been the standard since day one, I will continue to read only, the posts of others involved with this wonderful experience we have all been allowed to share and marvel at how right I was about us.
