My last big trip was in August this year. It was my first ever visit to the Isle of Man and it was during the Manx Grand Prix race week.

In many ways a visit to the Island is a pinnacle in motorcycling so it is a hard act to follow, so I hope my planned desert run next year will be a total contrast. Should be!

I've got a buddy that really wants to make that trip one of these years. It's on the bucket list.

Recently got back from Nepal, 2 weeks on an Indian Enfield with a bunch of buddies.
I'll post a few pics when I get my breath back.
One of the guys has some go-pro stuff on Youtube here.

I'll let the the Bike herself lead the way. I'll just be along to enjoy the ride. She will know which way she wants to go and where.

I am sure though she will want to be home by dark.

I'm thinking about this:

1700 mile round tripper for me on the Tiger, plus the ridin' done up there in Yankee land. I guess that's around 2000 in five days. Doable if the weather cooperates.

Spring it's usually 3 or 4 days the Adirondacks in NY or Endless Mountains in North central Pa. Fall usually West Virginia. Wait a minute, I just signed up for social security and since Uncle Sam is paying I may extend the trips ( SS for you in the Empire it's like the DOL but I paid for it)

Mrs. Irish and I are planning our first fairly long touring trip on the two Bonnevilles this summer. We are going to head out of Alabama and up though Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and then to see some of our friends in Washington D.C. After that we are going to head over the mountians over into West Virginia, down to see our friends in the Kentucky RATs in Lexington, down through Tennessee and then home.

We will be taking all back roads through small towns and staying close to the mountains most of the time. We hope to spend about 8 days, not have any set agenda, spend quite a bit of time exploring and stopping to smell the roses.

We are hoping we can meet up with some of our Triumph RAT friends along the way.

I know we plan on staying at the Talladega Motel near Robbinsville, NC on the first night. After that the only other places that we have scheduled is probably staying with our friends in Washington D.C. probably the 3rd and/or 4th night and probably staying with our friends in Lexington maybe the 6th or 7th night.

Does anyone have any ides for quaint little motels along that route? We ended up loving the little Talladega motel when we were up there for the Dragon Raid.

No, but I do have this road that I can highly recommend, I rode it earlier this year with RIDE4321.

It is well up there on my list of great riding roads, 30 odd miles of more fun than you can poke a stick at, and NO traffic.

Then we found our way over to 20 and followed that up the state, as pleasant a road as I have ridden, great scenery, lots of towns for fuel and coffees, lots of Mom and Pops, and what seemed like a 5 mile bursts of twisties of Dragon quality between each town.

Route 20, another must ride.

Kancamangus Highway across the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Best to catch it in spring or fall when the tourists in their cages have slunk back to their lairs. Awesome ride.

I 2nd that Rt 16 linked above. Wonderful stretch of road. When you're heading from DC to KY just pick squiggly lines in WV and you're good to go. Can't help out with motels, the ones I pick are on the sleazy side usually.

Nort, I'll ride that final stretch to Bennington if I'm going this year.

My trip has the potential of become something much more than originally expected. Could end up being an open ended trip in search of inner peace and a new place to plant my roots. More to come as it develops.
